Great to see a fellow 5th gen in SF, I think I may have actually run into you on 280 a couple weeks back? Definitely down for some Sierras trips with other runners.

Now that I think about it, I remember that! Funny how many people there are here, and we can manage to see each other on the freeway. Yes, a trip would be great. Bikes included! Sorry I haven't joined on a ride yet. I haven't had a free weekend for a few months...

Nice install, and good thought process. For now I am airing down to 18 when I hit the dirt. It helps a lot with the jarring, but it doesn't help with the other "problems", ha. I'll upgrade eventually for the same reasons you did.

Ha! Well until he got his 4R lifted, we looked pretty much the same. Now he is taller and I have sliders. So we're drifting apart :nono:
I'll be up there in 2 weeks. Looking for some good biking, and some fun trail driving. Likely I will attempt to head up Ellis Peak at some point.
Ha. It's possible. I was down there hiking off Skyline a few weeks back.
July I went out to the Sierras to do a hike. I tried doing it a couple years ago, but got snowed out. This time, success. On the way back, stopped at Bodie for a minute, and then took some dirt roads through the middle of nowhere, winding up back in Bridgeport. The roads were well-packed dirt with a couple rocky parts. I was trying to get to the top of Masonic Peak. At the base looking up, there's a rough road that goes straight to the top. **** it. 4Lo and 1st gear. About half way up it got very sketchy, but there was no going back. It was probably a 60° angle full of rocks and ruts. Got to the top, looked left, and there was a very nice packed dirt road. Truck did the job though. Ha. This was also the first real test of the new King Suspension. They were great. Aired down, plus the Kings, sucked up everything. The last photo of the two-track wound up getting very narrow with window high bushes, more pinstripes.

Additions A few of you have asked, so here's the info. I figured out a way to mount my Maxtrax and Rotopax to the roof without a ratchet strap. They work well, but got annoying. So I took some measurements, went to a local plastics store and got some 1/2" Starboard cut for about $50. This stuff is basically plywood for boats. Water and UV are not an issue. Then just drilled some holes, and mounted to the stock roof rack with zip ties. I'll probably replace with U-bolts at some point. I lined the bottom with some foam rubber to kill vibrations.
Accident No thanks to the 20 year old girl, who has been driving for two months, who couldn't wait her turn at the light. The truck goes in the shop next week, but this throws a wrench in July plans. Could have been worse. The 4R took it like a champ and her brand new Civic was crushed.

Haha. Thought crossed my mind. I have a couple more days to decide. I like the look of stock though. But that Pelfrey is pretty sweet.

AUGUST July was a bit of a wash from the accident, but now the truck is healed, and I needed some dirt. [MENTION=129593]MTN4RNR[/MENTION] texted me, and we headed to Bald Mountain with some new friends. I have hit plenty of dirt roads and done a little wheeling here and there, but this was my first time crawling. This is a very capable truck. Be smart about your lines. Take it slow. You'll make it. You might get a some scratches and dings, but that's a part of use. MTN4RNR was a bit more ambitious than I was. He was looking for the limit, and found it, but a quick tug and he was out. The beauty is there's almost always an easier way around the bad stuff. We came across some drunk locals who looked at me and said 'How'd that mother****er get up here?' Found the skid plates more than once, but that's why they are there. My biggest concern was not having sliders, but that will be fixed soon.
We made it to the top, and back down the dusty trail. Max and I found a river campsite at the end of another dusty road. The others headed back to the Bay.

September It's Friday, I'm sitting at my desk realizing there's 4 people in the office, and I have nothing that has to be done by EOD. So about 2 I leave, run home, throw everything in the truck, and head for the mountains, lady and pup in tow. The goal of the weekend was to hopefully see some fall colors, and drive.
Saturday morning we left the valley floor at about 5000 ft., and headed up to 10,000 ft. exploring Coyote Hills. I had a guide book, occasional cell service, and Entune. Nothing was 100% accurate. Some ended when the GPS said they kept going. Some were on the GPS and didn't exist in real life. Some of the trails were fun wide open dirt. Some were extremely rocky no fun at all. A tree tried to eat me, and left a nice scratch across the hood. And the rock parts shook the truck so bad, it snapped the zip ties holding the rotopax to the roof, which sent that flying off the back leaving a nice scratch across the roof of the lift gate. Sucks, but, buy it to use it. At sunset we could see smoke in the distance. Uh oh.
Sunday morning we made our way out. We ran through Volcanic Table Lands. After not getting about 5mph on Saturday, doing 60 down a wide graded road is a blast. Lots of cool little places to stop and see some desert life. Once we hit the the highway, and started driving North the sky was full of smoke. East of June Lake, was a massive fire. Everyone pulled off the road to get a look. Turns out Friday night someone lost control of a campfire. By Saturday night it was 500 acres. When we came through Sunday evening it was 5000 acres.
