Thinking about a used Porsche 911

I would get the 993. The last of the air-cooled 911's. I haven't been around the Porsche crowd in a while, but from what I hear the values are going up. Maintenance will always be pricey on these cars no matter which one you get.

Highly desirable, but there is nothing that adds to the pucker factor like planning your daily commute around the air cooled engine not overheating--then getting stuck in traffic...

Do I want one? Yes, but I went with the Macan for practicality.

Yeah, that post was my thinking as a youngster in 2013. Now I don't feel inclined to deal with that type of BS during a daily commute.

If the economy tanks for a bit longer, wait for more of the CPO 991.2s to sit on dealer lots, they will start to get antsy and start offering huge discounts on them. They are reliable and fast as hell, plus warrantied.

I wouldn't say the 991.2 is reliable as hell. It's a new twin-turbo motor. The jury's still out. The 991.1's NA engines are definitely reliable, though - their motors originated in the 997.2 and have been around since 2009.

It's only a single case, but I know of one with 80k on it right now. Nothing but scheduled maintenance according to the owner. It gets driven a ton.
