Thread sealant for fuel lines

So I got around to changing my fuel filter today but a 30 minutes job turned into a 3hour pain in the a$$. My runner is a PA rig (2000 Sport) with 134,000 miles when I bought it. Frame is in great shape but small nuts and bolts are rusted and the fuel filter was no exception. I got one end off but the other end (out to engine) wasn't budging. I ended up taking the fuel line off just outside of the plenum to give me leverage under the runner. Everything buttoned up but the line in the engine bay. I've taken it apart twice now and reinstalled but I still have a leak. Do I need to use thread sealant on this or should it be sealing without tape?

It does not use sealant.
It's not the threads on the fitting that seals.

Is the face of the fuel line and it's mating surface clean and free of nicks?

No cross thread, it threads nice and easy. I'll take a look at the mating surfaces, thanks!
