Throttle body clean up

Thinking about pulling my throttle body tomorrow and clean it to fix a hard starting issue.

No codes, it's just hard to start in any temp, though easier after it has been warmed/running up.

Besides a new gasket that I have ready, what other parts might I need that could prevent me from completing a remove, clean, replace in one day?

I just opened my throttle plate and wiped it out clean and shot throttle body cleaner into the idle air control to flush out the crap that collects in it. It cleaned out enough junk I had a high idle for about 3 drive cycles while it relearned the new idle position.

I ended up removing the entire throttle body and cleaned it out with throttle body cleaner. I don't think it's going to make much difference because it was surprisingly clean, not like some of the pictures that I've seen online. I doubt this is going to fix my hard-starting/poor idle quality at startup issue.

One thing I noticed however, the hose that connects to the IAC had no hose clamp on it, I don't know if this is common but I installed one.

The IAC has 3 hose connections. 2 are coolant in/out and one is air. The air one doesn't have a clamp but should not be loose either. A clamp certainly wont hurt anything.
Your problem sounds like a classic IAC malfunction.

With the IAC on the bottom I think it tends to collect crap inside it.

The IAC has 3 hose connections. 2 are coolant in/out and one is air. The air one doesn't have a clamp but should not be loose either. A clamp certainly wont hurt anything.
Your problem sounds like a classic IAC malfunction.

The 2 water lines had clamps, I added a third.

Classic IAC replace, I assume then?

Aside.from being sooty, the IAC looked pretty good, no crud and no rust (on water side)

One thing of note was the IAC gasket, it did not want to go back in the channel nicely even though I was careful not to hit it with solvent. But I managed to get it back together.

Guess I should have bench tested the IAC while I had it off but I'll order a new gasket first. Thanks for the link!
