throttle body problems ..NO POWER

Long story short I talked my girlfriend into buying a 2010 4runner with 38K miles on it, she previously had a 2008 jeep grand Cherokee with 90k miles on it and I was scared of the transmission going out and a 3k repair(common problem). Plus the only car in my opinion to drive is a Toyota, that's all I have ever driven. We bought the 4runner from a local non Toyota dealer and put 1200 miles on it when...
The check engine light comes on and the car has absolutely no power and wont move just idles, ....I got the car to advance where they pull the code 2111 throttle actuator stuck open. Now find out there is a bulletin for it TSB 0092-11. But the car has 39k miles on it now. I just looked at the local car dealer warranty 30days/1000miles oh boy nice...I thinking girlfriend going to be pissed at me :yell: So my question is ???????

1. Does anyone have a copy of this tsb? I saw a one page of it on this forum but it didn't state the mileage or the time frame of the tsb.

2. How many miles does it cover to? Am I covered still 39k miles?

3. I cleared the code but does the ecm keep a record of the code and at what mileage it set the code off. REALLY WANT TO KNOW THIS!!!!!

4. Any advice would be appreciated. This forum has been a wealth of knowledge and want to thank all for the info shared here.

powertain is anything that affects proper operation of the engine/transmission etc.

Not sure if it was actually posted but I'll be happy to grab the tsb for you tomorrow.
 
I called corporate Toyota today and stated my problem and tsb 0092-11 .......They sated this tsb is only covered 3yrs/36000 miles ......

Well this sucks, anyone know what the part actually costs?
 
Throttle Body

I think someone at corporate did not tell you the full story. According to the power train warranty anything that will not power the vehicle as it was designed is covered by the 5 year/60,000 warranty. This would even include the wheel hubs, as on one of my previous Toyota's the RR hub was warped and caused the car to have a weird feel and sound at certain speeds. The vehicle at the time had over 40,000 miles on it and it was past the 36 month bumper to bumper warranty. Check with a Toyota dealer.
 
typical Toyota ....you have got to love their vehicles but their service is questionable. It s like they do everything to try and get out of warranty work.

I really need a copy of the full TSB 0092-11

On the contrary: That's your dealer, not Toyota. If you have a CS-oriented dealer (as I do) it couldn't be better.

Which are scarce to non-existent. Here in NoVA the dealers like to charge MSRP + 25% for accessories and parts, because you suck and they hate you.
 
I LOVE TOYOTA TRUCKS AND SUVS
I however do not like the local dealerships or corporate Toyota.

No conflict in my eyes because thankfully I rarely have to see the dealership or the corporate reps thanks to Toyotas reliability.

I would just like to have a copy of the full TSB 0092-11 so I may look at it myself. And see if they changed the part number.


Ps. I found a new oem throttle body for $650.00 but I will wait to see if this may be covered under warranty and if the code comes back .

You are making no sense.
Everyone here, and I would listen to them because people like [MENTION=55815]Okki[/MENTION] and others know what they are talking about, are telling you it IS under warranty. Now, if you hate your dealer so much you would rather spend $1000.00 avoiding them then tell us that. These guys are telling you what to do to get it fixed under warranty.
Go to the dealer and get a copy of the TSB.
Tell the dealer to test it and if it exhibits the same issues as the TSB covers you will get it fixed no charge because of the 60K mileage.

You mention resetting your codes. Who is working on the truck now?
Lastly, what dealer in WV is so terrible?
 
It is covered..........,5year/60 k powertrain warranty -print this off and take it to the dealer-The ECU stores the codes so it will still be there until it is cleared with Techstream.

I recant my earlier statement as now I'm not sure if it will be covered.Wow ,after actually reading the long azz dealer manual , policy 4.4 for powertrain and some research as most manufacturers don't cover the Throttle Body anymore with many complaints. The TB from what I see is not covered for the Toyota powertrain warranty which is total BS. The TB is part of the engine/drivetrain IMO and a vital one at that IMO. Can't hurt to try but when they pull up the part number it will tell them what the warranty is and I hope the TSB states a longer warranty.

That's a bummer it might not be covered under warranty!

OP:

If it is NOT covered under warranty.

Just order the new part throttle body. Part number should be listed in the TSB.

Order that part yourself online with a discount and change it yourself.

Should be easy to change. Save yourself $500+ on retail pricing on parts plus labor.
