Could the saving grace be that the TBS lists vehicles in specific VIN ranges? that's akin to Toyota admitting fault on those vehicles. if the OP's Le is in the range, I would expect Toyota to pick up the tab. (although it sounds like it may need a phone call to corporate to spur things along).

Well I called corporate Toyota with my VIN (which qualifies) and they stated that it was NOT covered....I repeat NOT covered after 36k miles. Its only covered under the 3yr/36k mile warranty. However I have been lied to before by big corporate Toyota so I was wanting a copy for myself so I could see if it had a limit to the coverage and to have it in my hand as I walked into the local dealer. Its always better to have it in your hand then to tell them about it because many times ok most of the time they are clueless and cant find it....Agree?

I agree it should be replaced under warranty however corporate say no. Has anyone had it replaced after 36k miles?????


I just priced the throttle body to know my options and pricing, $900 at the dealer $650 0nline. Trust me i'm not going to go out and spend money I don't need to if I can get it covered under warranty...hell im to cheap to spend the $10-$15 to get the tsb online just figured If I had access to it or had it and knew a fellow Toyota man needed I would share it so.....I'll probably take the whole dam thing apart and clean it,put it back on and see if the problems continue before I spend the $$$.

So I would really appreciate it if someone could send tsb 0092-11 to me [email protected]

I would not be too concerned about what the warranty states is covered. Read the exclusions. In most legal policies/contracts, if it is not excluded, it is covered.

It's all personal perspective, talking specifically about it is counterproductive. I say they can't fix anything and you say they are the best mechanics in the world. It's just Individual perspective. But just to respond I have bought trucks at bertwolf but never delt with them in service. I was happy with the deal they gave me on numerous occasions.

Finally university motors in Morgantown have provided me with professional service on numerous occasions and have gone above and beyond my expectations. However I have never bought a vehicle From them yet and they are by far not the closes dealer.

Most? Delaware is part of the US isn't it? Good luck with your exclusion theory. Totally not true that most policies/contracts cover everything not specifically excluded.

It may not be a bad idea to go and talk to the dealer where you bought the truck. You are only 200 miles past the dealer's warranty. They will most likely not help you, but sometimes it is easier to get someone to help you when you are face to face with them. If I was in your position, I would ask them to pay for the part or to pay for half of it and see what happens. The worst they can do is say no.

The vehicle is covered by powertrain warranty for 6 years or 60,000 miles. Go to the dealer and say your engine is acting weird, and explain the problem. Explain you would like it fixed as your powertrain warranty hasn't expired. I would be amazed, if the dealership did anything other than just fixing the vehicle.

Don't bring up TSB, don't bring up that you think it should be covered, play dumb and wait for it to be fixed. It's pretty clear that a throttle body is part of the powertrain, and the dealership can probably push this repair through. If you starting bringing up the TSB and how it may not be covered but you think it should you are creating more work for yourself up front.

Well, I haven't had time to do anything about it just yet......but I will in the next few weeks. If its not covered I will fix it myself, I'll tear it all apart clean and lube and see what happens. The car is running fine for now the light hasnt came back on, but I will keep you all informed.

What I mean is you can keep doing the hypothetical situations or just take it in. You may be pleasantly surprised and the dealer may just take care of it.

I will say the idea that Toyota may try to not cover the throttle body under powertrain warranty is upsetting. This part is clearly part of the powertrain, it has no other function that it's powertrain function. The reason many purchase Toyota is the reputation for reliability, if Toyota starts trying to cheap out it will come back to bite them.

I agree with this 100%. last winter My friend were helping stranded driver who reversed polarity of jumper cables and her rav4 did exactly that, it showed throttle body problem and just idle with no power at all.
dealer just fixed it with no question asked. rav4 was past 36000 by another 10000 or so.

Bringing this back to life to share my own experience..

In the last two off-roading trips I've triggered P2111 (Throttle body stuck open) codes resulting in rough idle and no power... luckily, the $20 ebay OBD adapter cleared the codes and got me back home.

Both scenarios happened almost the same way. Full throttle + some sort of hard bump (i.e. when climbing the base of a steep sand dune with high revs).

First time I had the TB opened and cleaned (along with the intake and manifold). The TB did seem quite dirty. Second time happened ~1000 miles later.. Still not sure why, as this was literally during the first hour of the first off-road trip since cleaning the TB. Seems like these things are quite sensitive. :shrug:

Looking for help. Have 2016 with 55k same issue. First dealership said I needed a new Throttle Body second Dealership said it was clean and no problems

I have a similar issue after a dusty Green Ridge day ride. On top of that I have P2441, P2443, P2445 (all related to Secondary Air Injection System Valve Stuck Closed).

I did get the throttle body code several times (with "Christmas Tree" lights on losing about 80% of the power to the engine) but I have a Pedal Commander that is acting up from time to time.
