Time Capsule 2013 Trail Edition

Just bought this. 60K miles, I had to pinch myself. I was looking for a pre-owned , open to possibilities. I owned a 2000 Sport Edition, 5 speed, and always regretted selling it. Now Im a proud Papa again. All in for $27K. No rust, and barely any sign of use. So clean, garaged, and doesn't appear to have been driven in the NJ winter. 2 or 3 scratches on ignition surround. Drivers sill looks mint. This one checked off the boxes for me, never considered it before but the 5G is growing on me. I like this version's style of front end, the FJ wheels, and roof rack. Head unit is so outdated, it's the only part of this truck that sucks. Wants a technology upgrade. This is a great platform I look forward to transforming.

I have black 2012 with 82k on it. That has to be one of the cleanest low mileage Trail Editions (10-13) with the original style I have seen.

Does it have KDSS? If it does you killed it!

I have a 2013 Salsa Pearl, I still like the look of the front end on old Trail, and the roof rack looks cool. I wish they would have given us the better shocks.

nice score!!!

I have a 2012 MGM TE that I bought in June 2018 with about 55k on it. From the looks of it, your grill looks different than mine. Mine has straight lines going across. i like yours better.

Mine originated in NJ as well and the underside was clean, too. Make sure you keep up on rust abatement.

enjoy!

Sounds like you have an aftermarket grille added.

Nice! I bought my 2012 Trail 2.5 years ago with 58k on it. Now up to 92k miles and loving it still! I got mine from CT so it looked pretty similar underneath. Yours looks like it was driven in the winter, sine there is some rust underneath. I would get some undercoating done to protect it from spreading more. I use Fluid Film every year.

Great deal... that would tempt me to replace my 2012 red TE, now with 152K miles. Bought in 2015 with 22K miles.... if I ran across a blue 2012/2013 TE with lower miles, I probably would replace mine. Not that I'm unhappy at all.

Looks like you got it at a Toyota dealer, just wondering if it was "Certified Pre-Owned" with extra warranty, or if it was too old for that. Not too many miles, certainly. Just curious.

Not a CPO. Yes, due to age, I reckon. I did buy an extended warranty.
There are 2 issues the dealer wouldn't fix, both are key related. 1) Driver's door lock does not operate with key, but it unlocks electronically. Diagnosed as a bad power lock actuator. 2) the rear door doesn't lock or unlock by key either.
The key fob, and one valet key both operate ignition. Related? or coincidence?

Yep. I love mine and will keep it for a long time. The headlights suck and the interior tech is getting dated, but who cares? It's still great.

TO OP: You are selling the “holy grail” of 5th gen 4runners! And what an awesome deal, Good luck with sale!

Somebody please buy it before it will be sold to someone that has no idea what that truck is...

I think you misunderstood, OP just purchased that rig.

Nice! I got mine in the fall of 18 and it had 35k on it. It was actually a CPO which was kind of odd considering it was a 2011. 87k on it now. I really prefer the early 5th gen nose/lights over the later one.
