Time for new tires (last set big disappointment)

They are not the best in the market, not even close. But a lot of people really really like them. :hatsoff:

I'm certainly not one of them. I'm not saying they're a bad tire, because they're definitely one of the major tire brands. I just personally didn't have a good experience with them (BFG AT's) in the past. I'm partial to Cooper now.

I'm sorry to hear that, did you have C rated or E?

I don't mean to offend but with a screen name "bad luck" Just saying...

I had them in E rating on a Silverado 1500. Sidewall might as well have been a p rated tire. Ran them at 30 psi on the road and 20 psi on the fire roads.

I HIGHLY recommend the Falken Wildpeak AT3W's. I have ~40k on my first set and I should get at least 90k out of them based on the current tread wear.

I love em so much, I actually convinced my dad to buy them for his 5th gen and I just bought a set for my 2nd 3rd gen.

My dad has had BFG Pre-KOs, KOs, and KO2s for the last ~25 years and he was shocked how much better the Falkens are in the dry and in the rain. I absolutely hated my KO2s- like driving on ice any time the road was wet. The KOs and KO2s always had problems with balancing too. Never had a problem with the Falkens. The guys at Discount Tire agree with that as well.

Off road performance is about the same as the KOs and KO2s.

We have 255/80r17 on all 3 4Runners and they're my favorite tire size by far.

Another happy owner of Falken Wildpeaks here. I haven't had them long enough to judge treadwear lifetime, but they seem to be wearing well.

I love them much more than the Michelin LT (I forget the exact model) that they replaced. Noticeably better in the dirt and light snow. At least equal on rainy streets, and seem very resistant to hydroplaning, like the Michelins were (at least with good tread depth).

What's not to love about equal or better performance at a far cheaper price?

I'm on my 2nd set of Grabber AT2's in a 285/75/16. The new version is the AT/X. Best snow tire I've used. They are a much better version of the BFG AT. Better in the rain and off-road. They are rated for 60,000 miles. I run them @35 psi on road and they wear really even. They aren't very loud.

I buy mine from Discount Tire.

EDIT: I see that they reduced the mileage rating to 50K for the AT/X. They no longer offer a "D" rated tire that I can see, no C nor SL either.
