Sold my beloved '04 T4R Limited the other day. It was a difficult decision since it's been a great vehicle for us and never gave us any problems. It was starting to show it's age but I still got top dollar for resale so I'm happy. Now the proud owner of an '07 Tundra Crewmax Limited so I guess I'm off to the Tundra forums. Farewell to all and thanks for the help/ advice over the years.

I actually sold the Airstream 2 weeks after I got it. More work than I had time for, so I flipped it for twice what I paid :thumb3: Was kind of the plan anyways knowing it was too big for the T4R. It was just way too cheap to pass up.

First mod on the list is front window tint. I'll probably leave the running boards, at least until it's lifted with bigger tires, but that won't be for a while. Gotta pay for it first.

I had a number of reasons for wanting a truck but the size of my trailer was the last reason on my mind for upgrading to the Tundra. We moved to the country and I was always needing to borrow someones truck to get dirt or firewood, take the kids out with their ATV and dirt bike etc so it was either get a utility trailer or a truck. The kids are getting bigger every day and we plan on getting a bigger trailer in the future and taking some longer trips so a truck seemed like the more sensible thing to do. Plus the T4R was starting to show it's age, rusting around the windshield and a few other spots.

The T4R handled the trailer fine, and in some ways did it better than the Tundra. I'll admit, it was pushing the limits and I had to be careful with weights, gusty winds etc but it could be done safely. I still say for comfort to keep it under 24' total length and 5000lbs.

The Tundra is a different beast all together, but not without its faults. For example, listed payload is only 175lbs more than the T4R :wow2:and the 6 speed trans hunts gears a lot, even in tow mode. The throttle is touchy, daily mileage is worse and only equal when towing, and the ride is harsh compared to the T4R.

Overall, I love my Tundra and it was a good decision, but I do miss my T4R.

I have an 07 tundra and folks an 07 4runner, so I come to forum to learn about their vehicle. Needles to say the 4runner is a tank in the dependability department.
You mentioned your Tundras accelerator pedal is touchy, they probably added a shim or new accelerator pedal that IS VERY touchy. There is a NEWER pedal out that feels more normal and should be replaced under warranty, so ask dealer to see if that TSB can be done. NEW PEDAL IS SHORTER AND ANGLED AND MUCH LESS sensitive. Hope this helps and congrats.

Very nice Tundra, the interior is sweet. Definitely a great upgrade. Play with the peddle on the right and you won't miss the 4runner too badly.

Btw the tundra forums kinda suck, i can never find good info, (i have a 05 Tundra Limited TRD) never been able to find good help so i kinda just gave up

I agree that the Tundra forums are lacking, not nearly as good as here. Problem is there are so many of them so posts don't get many answers and they are very slow to load pages.

The reason I was asking was because I'm still trailer searching, and for what I want in a trailer, its kinda pushing the limits (like you said) so that I have to really watch the weight I put in it, and I have been looking st the Tundra Crew Max as well thinking... "well, if I had that I wouldn't have to worry so much about it".
