Time Warner Cable - new stealth increases

Over the holidays, the cable giant, now in the process of merging with its even larger rival Comcast, quietly jacked up its monthly modem-lease fee to $8 from $5.99.

That's an increase of nearly 34%.

And as if that wasn't a big-enough kick in the pants for customers, Time Warner also has added a $2.75 monthly charge for sports channels

— regardless of whether you watch them —

and boosted its monthly charge for local channels to $2.75 from $2.25.

Time Warner is not available in where I live but Comcast is. When I lived in Texas I had Time Warner and they always pulled some kind of shady thing. I never watched TV and some how I rented movies? lol.

It is good to be a monopoly. I hate the big red C with a real passion.

I will have to say though that when they first offered high speed Internet back in 2000 one could still get basic cable and HBO for free if one knew how to splice RG59/RG6 cable.

I think I still have an old HBO cylinder somewhere in one of my junk boxes.
