Timing belt replacement turned out to be a PITA

Hi you guys, I'd like to say thank you for the input on my questions that I ran into on what was suppose to be a routine timing belt replacement. After I got things taken apart I found that a past crankshaft pulley problem bite me in the @ss (half assed repaired it due to lack of funds). So now I literally paid for it. I had to have a mechanic pull my timing gear off with a puller while heating it with a torch and smashing it with a brass head hammer after it soaked in PB blaster. After that was off I could finally put my 4Runner back together. I definitely learned a lesson not to half ass repair parts and problems even when you don't have the money. It's ends up costing even more down the road. Here are some pictures from my headaches in the past week. I'm glad its all over with and I was able to go light wheeling a few days later so I'm happy til next weekend.

My 4Runner started up on the first turn of the key and it's running like a champ. I finished the day off with a cruise around town and then a good ol' BBQ.

Did you have to have it towed to a shop or did the mechanic come out to you?

Glad you got her up and running again!

I got a tow from my dads Honda Pilot and a tow strap. It was pretty interesting.....Mostly on my dads part since he has never towed a vehicle with a strap. He Pilot was jerking all over the place with his erratic starting

I know how you feel. It seems like every job I've done on the 4Runner regardless of the level of ease/complexity is an extreme pain in the ass due to stubborn bolts and broken parts. I've worked on many vehicles and have never been so frustrated with having to work on something as much as the Runner. I still love her though and she's treated me right.
