Timing Belt & Water Pump Maintenance

Holy crap that is an awesome price! I live in the Denver area and need to do this job this summer. What dealer did you go to? Any issues with them?

Mountain States Toyota @ I-25 and 70th. Their service advisors are great there, better than any other Toyota dealership that I have ever been to.

If your truck is out of warranty, you should also check out Toyexus on Broadway at Exposition. That guy does great work, has very competitive prices, and knows his way around Toyotas very well.

Some people have done the job themselves, but it is pretty labor-intensive. If you don't know what you're doing, you could really screw your engine up too. You can purchase one of the timing belt kits off eBay. Just make sure the shop that does the work will install parts that you purchased elsewhere.

Thanks for the info Glock. Mountain States is the closest for me, so that works out good. I will give them a call or stop in on my way home. I will also call the other place to get a comparison. Not looking forward to the expense, but I gotta get it done. Thanks again.

I'm about to have my water pump replaced . The dealership shop asked if I wanted a OEM or aftermarket pump . The aftermarket pump was $40 less . Has anybody gotten an aftermarket pump ?
I've owned several Chrysler products and always used aftermarket parts but have no experience with aftermarket for Toyota .
I was quoted $970 for TB , pump , serpentine belt and seals if needed . An independent shop quoted $750 for just TB and pump . . '03 Sport V8

Got it done for $845 . Seals weren't needed . $21 a gallon for 50/50 coolant was my old gripe .

Just had my waterpump and timing belt changed . I have 03sport with 67,000miles on it . I have a local shop that does all my work . Cost $480,00 . Timing belt looked really good but the water pump gasket was leaking and pump shaft was starting to leak . I am probably lukey I had it done instead of waiting for recomended service at 90,000 miles .

I just got a quote from Kerry Toyota in Florence ky for $685.00 + tax. Pump and belts. Was going to get parts myself and have a local shop do it, but for that price, I think I will let the stealer do it.

Dry Ridge Toyota, Dry Ridge Ky, $600.00 + tax, belts and pump.

How good are those Ebay kits? I would be interested in just buying one of those and taking it to my dealer. They have no issue installing aftermarket parts. I just want to make sure the quality of those parts is on-par or exceeds OEM. I noticed in the link posted by glock only one of the parts in the package is OEM.
