Who said you needed sealant? Not if you have the new Aisin WP with the metal/rubber gasket. I recommend against. No leaks on mine after 4 years and 60k and I have one broken stud.
You need to explain better about the rad. What is in there now and why do you want to change it to an old rad?

I just finished mine a few weeks ago and didn't use sealant, hasn't leaked a drop. I'd definitely replace the radiator since you have it out anyway. I did new waterpump/thermostat obviously, upper and lower hoses and a new radiator.
are you pretty mechanically inclined? If so how long did it take you?
Any tips or gotchas?

I'm fairly mechanically inclined, at least I do all of the work on our cars and I like to wrench. It took me a solid 7 hours probably with a buddy helping, and several breaks for beer, lunch etc.
The only thing that was difficult was cranking down the crank pulley. It requires over 200 foot pounds of torque. I made my own tool to hold the pulley in place with some metal and bolts, but it was a *****. I'm sure it isn't bad with the proper tool.

Radiator
I did install a new Denso radiator. Perfect fit. Its an auto and I didn't want the trans cooler issue to happen. I replaced the TB and water pump, thermostat, belts and radiator. Quite the big job. I believe it was the original TB and had 157k on it. Timebomb! I guess I was looking at an old post that showed sealant on the water pump gasket. Glad I read all of these posts. I never would have put the jiggler on the bottom. Every other car puts a bleeder hole at the top. Thanks for all of the help!

Excellent thread, I'm planning the same + radiator on my newly acquired 2001.
A quick question, whether I purchase them here or not, do either/both of these kits accurately sum up the materials list?

Buy the Aircabinman kit. That kit has been used by tons of guys without issue. It's the one I link in my videos. The only thing the aircabinman kit doesn't come with is a new crank bolt. Toyota recommends you replace it because of the high torque value it is tightened to.
I have two videos for this job and I suggest you watch both before you tackle it.
