Using Pactra paint from a hobby store. Turned out a little dark I think. But with the lights on the 4r's being so bright It worked out good.

Man, I'm really starting to like your 4Runner.. Next you should get some all black rims.

Thanks man. Going to lift it first....It's the GF's so she will pick the wheels out. Probably go chrome. I dunno we'll see...LOL I did the chrome wheels with the tinted lights and tails on my Tacoma...I like but I did want to mix it up with her's....

Did you talk to the guy on my site yet about the lights??

Wow, your Tacoma... it's amazing.

But yeah man, I've been talkin to him. He says he's never done 4Runner headlights before so I dunno.. I might just have you do it.. that is if your up to it. I really like the way yours turned out.

Thanks!! I sent ya a PM...let me know.

Is there someone who will do this for you? I am going to do it to mine but am a little tenative because it will be so expensive if i screw up. I like the idea of having someone do it, if the price is right. How much should I expect to pay?

It's the easiest mod that i have done lately. All you do is take out the light and spary on the paint till it's as dark as you want it. Spray light coats....Depends on the shop...but it takes about a full hour with waiting in between coats. Hardest part was not dropping a wrench inside the vehicle....LOL I could probably do it....but the shipping would be more than the paint....

I was thinking about trying this smoked tail light vinyl on mine:

What do you think? Good or bad idea?

Pre cut tint from reputable stores is a giant pain in the ass because you have to stretch it so much for it to fit. So I would imagine an Ebay store selling it the 1/3 of the price to not give you what you desire. But I guess with it only being $18 it's not like that would be a huge loss.

Bowtie, sorry i misunderstood, i want to paint the inside of the headlights. Any tips for doing this?

I have the vinyl tint, and wouldnt recommend it. It is really hard to put on perfectly. I am on my second tint, i thought learned from the first one, but it is very hard to make it perfect. A shop wanted $350 to have it done. Once the film starts coming off i will paint it myself.

Headlights are a different story. Kinda a pain but just take your time and they will turn out good.

This is a old write up but semmed to work basically the same for the 4R

Let me know if you have any questions.

I used Rustoleum for plastics this time. I have done this mod on a few Tacomas and I liked the paint better. Seems more durable.
