WRITE UP: Tinting Part of Taillights, Sidemarkers and Turn Signals
Tinting Taillights, Sidemarkers and Turn Signals
In this write up I will show you how I tinted parts of my TailLights, Sidemarker, etc.
(This write up is intended for educational purposes, do these at YOUR own risk!!)
I recommend that you get LED setups for any of the lights you are tinting so it will be seen better.
What is Needed:
-Spray Tint (Rust-Oleum)
-Clear Acrylic (Exterior; I used AERVOE)
-Painters Tape
-Heat Gun (Optional)
-Pre-Painting Cleaning Agent (I used Acetone)
1) Start by Removing Sidemarkers, Taillights, Turn Signals: (If you don't know how look it up)
2) Next Prep your work space. (Put down paper and such)
3) Now use your cleaning/de-greasing agent to clean off lenses (you can leave the light assembly together if your ok with it getting some spray on it)
4) Tape off around the Sidemarker Reflector. (Left is Before Clear Acrylic; It looks dull from acetone)

5) Tape off around the white part of the Taillight. (I didn't have a pic before I tinted)

6) Start with LIGHT coats with the Lens Tint, until you have the desired tint level.
7) I used a heat gun to help dry it quicker; be CAREFUL that you don't bubble the paint!!
8) Once the tint is dried, Remove the tape and coat the WHOLE (optional) taillight, sidemarker, etc. with Clear acrylic to make it look shiny and protect it. (I also used heat gun here too)
9) Once completely dried hook them back up and ENJOY!!!

yeah, I just added a "do at your own risk thing." Yes I agree it isn't as safe but I personally don't like the orange reflector, hence the tinting. Although this time I didn't do as dark tint on any of the things I tinted.
