tips on buying a new 4runner for a noob

hey all,
im probably going to purchase a new 2008 4runner limited v6 within the month of july.

are there any things i should know or ask for at the dealership?

i dont see many people buying an SUV with the current gas prices so maybe they will give me a good price. a lot of my coworkers say they should give me a good price since the SUVs aren't selling well now. not sure if thats true or not.

i just want a solid vehicle that'll last a while and carry my mountain bikes once i get that hitch bike rack.

i think 35k is the max i'd pay. due to the price of gas and lack of sales, whats a good asking price for a 4runner?

I'm seeing "internet pricing" on the local dealers in northern virginia listing $36k msrp trucks for $28k! Their invoice is $31k. That's for an '08 sport 4x4 V8. The V6 might not discount as much. Try to get $2000-3000 under kelley blue book invoice- they have a calculator on their www.kbb.com website.

I was just at the dealer getting my 15K service, and I walked around the dealer lot and just about every SUV was on sale. You should get a great price. Good Luck on getting your new 4Runner.

I paid just over 34K Before taxes and tag for my 2008 Limited V6 2WD back in May of this year. It has the Option Package with the Sunroof.....Double Decker Cargo.....etc.

No Nav.....

It does have the JBL Synthesis System.

They did have one at another dealer just like mine with NAV that they could have gotten for me. Just could not justify the extra cost for something that I would probably not use.
