tire size for 06 4-runner

My original stock tires 265/65/17's wore out on my 06 4-runner. The tire shop, Sears, great sale, replaced them with 265/70/17's, Goodyear Silent Armor's. The tire is about an inch taller than stock, but I see that Toyota says the runner needs a lift kit and I don't want to put one in for the sake of a tire. Tires don't rub when I turn but will I have problems on rocks and such? I live near the mountains and get on the trails. Any help would be great. Thanks

Jerry,
Welcome and holy schnikes, you have already gone thru a set of tires! This topic has many threads throughout the forum. In short, 70's are fine and only on rare occasions such as at lock and compression may you experience rubbing.
