Tire size for a leveled rig? 255/75 vs 265/70

Yank's still in the shop getting her headers on (My usual shop is down a tech atm) but Im starting to shop around for some slightly beefier tires, probably a MT of some type as this is red clay country, AKA the slickest snot known to man. Anywhoo, I'm stuck between a 265/70/r17 or a 255/75. I have bilsteins all 4 corners with the fronts set at 1.75, the rear axle is at stock height. Those who have fit these sizes with a similar setup, your expertise please. :shrug:

I'm still running stock tires but my observation from around the forms is that most people seem to run 255/75R17.

When I eventually get ready to upgrade wheels and tires I'm going with the BFG K02s. Based on my research it's the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tire for off-road driving.

285s! Its what I have with my leveled 4Runner and they look so cool!

Not that I've ran any of these, but I think 255s would suit you well. Easier to fit and a more efficient tire on-road. Might fill the wheel-well better too. Offroading, I think you would see a bigger difference in performance with the taller tire vs the wider tire between the two.

Just got KO2s on Friday last week, 275 70 17s. They barely rub in reverse at full lock. I debated between what I got, 285s, and the 255 75s.

Just yesterday I bought and mounted four General AT2s, in 265/70R17, and I too noticed a slight rub in turns. My question is, will the front tires still rub even after I install a Daystar front only level kit? I have a return guarantee of
several days, and I'm wondering if I shouldn't go to 265/65 or even 255/65 or /70 for off road and snow work? Did I just mess up? Pls tell me what you think. Many thanx.

Just yesterday I mounted four General Grabber AT2s on standard 2007 4Runner wheels. 265/70R17s. Noticed slight rub while turning. Pls let me ask what specific "running issues" you're referring to, and what you did to resolve those issues. You have my fullest attention.

The 255/75/17 is a simple find because they're a factory take off on the jeep rubicon. There are a ton on craigslist that have good tread, they were pulled because they lifted their jeep day two of ownership.

I currently run them and have had them for the last two years or so. BFG KM1. I have had no rubbing issues when I didnt run the wheel spacers. I picked up spacers to help my stance for Rally and they rubbed on the mud flaps up front.

I am putting on 285/75/17 BFG KM2 in the next month or so to get the most out of my lift and to get a better load rating on the tire. I think the 255 are a bit soft for towing much heavy stuff, the whole reason I picked the v8 was to tow.

The major decision is the tread pattern and the other use besides mudding. the MTs can wear very quickly and be very loud on a day to day basis.
