Tire/Wheel Swap

I know it's been asked a thousand times, but sometimes too much information isn't useful. i.e. I can't sort out the mess to get the answers.

It's a 2020 4Runner Limited with the obligatory 20" wheels. I want to swap to the 17" TRD wheels. I plan to try to sell the Limited wheels (10K) miles on them with tires and TPMS.

So the new wheels will need new TPMS sensors.

The only one I see is labeled as "spare tire".

Hey man. One of the batteries in my tpms died. Your can't just put a new battery in. You have to purchase all new sensors(not cheap) and then have ecu that monitors the sensors reprogrammed to the new sensors. I air up and down all the time so it just drives me crazy anyways. So I made the circuit switchable on/off. It's fairly easy. Just need to jump the correct two wires under your dash and add a rocker switch in one of your blanks. A few dollars to do this. If you want you can still blow your money on new sensors and have the option to switch it on or off.!

However, it didn't answer my question about what is the correct PN for new TPMS sensors.

I apologize for not answering your specific question. But i would assume you are buying the 17" TRD wheels from Toyota, as well as the TPMS sensor's. So when you order they can confirm the TPMS for the spair is the same as the ones that fit the TRD wheels. I believe it is, but i would confirm with Toyota when you buy the rims ether way.

Personally i hate Toyota's TPMS system.

i bought this tpms sensor for my spare when i replaced my steel wheels with alloy wheels. it's a moresensor nx-s090. it's not oem but aftermarket. worked pretty well.

I installed aftermarket !7" wheels and stock size tires, to make things easier I would purchase a Autel 501 programmer and reader, then buy four metal Autel programable MX sensors about $20 each and look exactly like the overpriced Toyota sensors. Use Autel 501 programmer to copy all four sensors from existing 20" Toyota wheels, then before installing download the TPMS codes you copied and stored in the Autel 501 programmer into the new Autel MX sensors. Your 4R will recognize the codes and won't even know you swapped wheels. I did this with my 2020 TRD ORP and it was super easy.
