Time to change my tires.
2001 4runner
Currently tire size 265/75/16
I don't tow, i don't go off rode, rarely snows in town.
Options on this size from costco -Canada
-micheline defender ltx m/s -$1030
-bridgestone dueller h/l alenza plus -$800
-pirelli scorpion str -$1150

Any suggestions from your own experience?
Thank you

Grandpa says "Michelin cost more, last longer and a great tire" I run them and agree.

Dad swears by Bridgestone, runs them on his truck in CA and on both his awd acuras

I've never gotten the mileage (tread life, not gas mileage) out of other tires that I get out of Michelins in my heavy, diesel pickups. They have been worth the premium paid for one set of tires that lasts as long as two sets of other brands.

+2 for Michelin LTX's. Have a set on my 4th gen, incredible tire. Still very capable offroad, even at 8-10 psi.

My vote is for the new Nitto Terra Grappler G2s

Get them in P-metric and they ride better and have a 65,000mi warranty. I paid $780.00 out the door at Discount with the certificates.

I just took michelins off of mine a couple of weeks ago. I hated them. They were weak and very puncture prone. I'm running mud terrains now. Cooper makes a decent tire for the money.

Interesting, first time I've ever heard something bad about those LTX's.

However, sounds like you wanted a tire for off-roading, which isn't specific to LTX.

thinblue didn't say which Michelins or how he was getting punctures. Who knows if this info is even relevant to what the OP is looking for....

What about BF Goodrich All-Terrain T/A? I liked those on my Cherokee. I do a fair amount of off-roading.

I have a set of Bridgestone Duellers that came of a 2015 4runner. They seem like a decent tire, no issues so far, but I live within 5mins of work and there was no snow last year. I however will be looking into some BFG AT KO2 next time i need tires.

I had the Michelin LTX on my XJ. Great tire, quiet on the road and no issues with the wet roads here in BC. Had them for 2 years and didn't notice any wear on them. Michelin makes an excellent tire, you wont regret getting them if you go that way.
