Too much for '08 Urban Runner???

Forgot the wheels, thanks for the correction Jed. Personally I don't like the color-keyed grill, but that's individual choice of course. On the wheels though that can be an issue, and I wouldn't choose to run that size. 18's are fine with OEM / street tires. However if you want to run true offroad AT or MT tires, 18's can have very limited choices and / or suprisingly high prices. 15 or 16's have lots of choices and very competitive prices. 17's are still reasonable with regard to sizes, but with a sometimes healthy bump in dollars. However 18's can see some manufacturers just about void on the size, and the price increase can be significant for what choices you do have.

That's true, but it seems that there are more and more all-terrain type tires offered in larger sizes these days. Remember when you had to have 16" wheels to get offroad or all-terrain tires? Now you can get a decent selection in the 17" size. Since stock wheels are getting bigger all the time, I'm sure that there will be even more choices in the 18" wheel size also. The only problem is that the bigger the wheel diameter, the lower profile the side wall will be, all else equal. And we can all benefit from a decent sidewall height if we're driving off the pavement.

Got my '07 V8 Limited 4x2 LOADED (but no moonroof)@ 35k miles for $24.5k + ttl. Basically, got it for what they took in trade -- my uncle is a dealer, and he found it for me, so I know he wouldn't jerk me around. After all that and the certified warranty that takes care of me until 2014 (as he pointed out, the truck IS *highly* electrical) I paid $27.7k.
The Urban Runner is newer with fewer miles and 4x4, but other than that has similar options at the lower trim level (gotta say those urban runners are gorgeous, though) I'd say they probably took trade for it somewhere around where mine was, probably a little more.

I think you caught the issue nicely Jed. It's true more options are coming available in the bigger wheels and tire sizes. However that doesn't change the bigger picture. Bigger isn't necessarily better when you're offroad...such as the shorter side wall issue. No offense to big wheel guys and / or Limited owners...but a 17" tire may be a reasonable upper limit if we're talking about smart off roading within a reasonable budget.

Questions on 2008 Urban 4Runner.
If you look at how other 4Runners hold there value, I buy the Urban at what ever you can and run. Here in Denver there was a Pearl White 2008 Urban 4Runner listed for 32K. It didnt last a day on the lot. They only made so many of them and they dont make any more either. Do I think it will be worth more later you bet ya. Plus It sure beats the current or new 4 Runners. You have something they cant get and IT looks better as well. Now I say this because I bought on yesterday. And I will never sell it unless the right price was there. Well I'll take that back, I would rather have the Urban than any other Toyota.

I know this is an old post but I thought you'd all be pleased to know if you still have your Urban they keep their value! I'm looking at '08 4x4 with $49,000 miles. Dealer asking $24,950. I talked him down to $24,399 and he's adding $300 to my trade in. I've had my eye out for one for a month and looks like this is going rate with the low mileage.
I welcome any feedback if there is something I should have my mechanic look for when I take it in for inspection tomorrow. Aside from the dated TomTom. Lol.

KBB says $22.8k for urban Runner with 49k miles is the fair market price. It indicates $24.5k is the suggested retail price.

That's a $18.5k car wholesale not that great of a deal. Considering it was only $33.6k new plus $1700 for the urban package.

I traded my '08 UR that was in immaculate condition for $20K. The dealer had it as certified used for $24,900. Unrelated, my neighbor knew how well I take care of my vehicles and snatched it up. I'm happy I get to see it every day still.
