Too much for '08 Urban Runner???

Looking at an Certified 08 Urban Runner 4x4 V6 29K miles. The truck is loaded - sunroof, tow pkg, dual power seats, TomTom nav - yada yada. One owner, IMMACCULATE! Seriously, it looks new - REALLY new. The dealer wants $27k + ttl. I know this ain't cheap, but I'm in Phoenix and the market here for these things in nuts. There are literally 4 private party 4Runners for sale in the Phoenix area right now. I know these things are falling off the trees in the east coast, but it just ain't so here. It's been 6 months since i've seen a serious contender. I'm getting weak. Am I nuts to consider this?

I think is a good price.....but if you could try to make them go down a little it would be great!...at least try!...

$29K is too high. Dealer mark-up is around $4K on all used cars(give or take market conditions). I'd make an offer around $26.5 if its what you want

The price is $27,000 29k is the milage....am I right?

Yes, the price is $27,000. Sticker $29,800 and I offered them $500 over cost which was showed to me as $25,852. They are willing to take $27,082 + TTL.

The mileage is 29,800.

Color is arctic white (i think - on the 'arctic' portion anyway).

I have the exact same car @24k. IMO, $27k is not bad for asking price, which means you'll negotiate it down. MSRP new on that car was $36,600 IIRC. Capitol Toyota here in Norcal just had the exact same car CPO for $31k and they sold it in a week, for how much, no idea... All I know is they were asking a premium of about $3-$4k over other Gen IV's they were selling.
I have always wondered if the Urban Runner will be a unique, more in demand model. Not that I wanna make money off of it, since I'll keep it for 10 years, but it is a rare model and might hold it's value better, who knows. At the same time, it might be too rare to hold it's value better. When the car was in service @ 20k, the technician who worked on the car asked my wife how and where she got the OEM matched logos to say URBAN RUNNER...lol
There are only a few URunner owners on the forum, chime in people....

you posted the details on the price as I was writing my response. I say stick to your price, or have them add free stuff. Oil changes, skid plate, accessories until you reach a common ground.

Also, make sure they have upgraded the chip on the TomTom Nav unit if you end up buying.

PS. I wanted Arctic White, wife wanted Black, so we got black.. lol

offer them 27,000 out the door, tax, title, registration included. its a good price for the vehicle of that year and urban runners are relatively rare. make the dealer pay for registration and title fees. i've never paid for them when i've bought from stealerships

It's a common problem with the Urban Runners and they upgrade teh chip for free and resolved any iddues with it. Issues vary from weird voice commands to slow maps etc...

Urban Runners start as Sport Editions as a base and add a special TomTom nav unit, upgraded seat materials and a few other bells and whistles.

It's an Urban Runner !

Based on the Sport Model and has Blackened trim, roof rails, side steps, interior trim, Leatherette/Alcantara seats, Removable TomTom Nav and a couple other stuff.

I got mine ('08 Urban Runner, Silver) a little over a month ago for 27,400. It was too a CPO w/ 14,500 miles on it. Walked out the door @ a bit over 25K cause of my trade in & $500 down. I am VERY Happy with it.
I just wish that toyota would have gone with a Garmin and not a TomTom, no offence to anyone out there that like the TomTom, its just that I have a Garmin and am used to how it works. Now the things I LOVE about the TomTom is that it comes with the Bluetooth and works with the AUX input so I can use my Ipod to hear music when I get tired of the Radio or my CD's.
Long story short. To me... thats a great price, GO FOR IT, but there is no harm in trying to get them to come down on their price. I might have been able to do the same but I had an '04 BMW 325ci that I wanted to get rid of, needed more room and cargo space, and still owed on. So I just gave in as soon as I saw the Urban Runner and a CPO one at that.
To me, it being a CPO I could sleep better at night knowing that fact, unlike with the Bimmer which every time I heard something rattle I would pray that I wouldnt have to take out a loan to fix it... lol

p.s. Make sure they get you 2 sets of keys &
a "complete" owners maunal set.
I had to fight for my "complete" maunal set.
Plus all CPO have to come with above said sets.
Oil change and change out of all filters were done too.

That price seems a bit high to me. One of the local dealers here had a brand new '09 Urban that he was trying to sell to me for $30K plus tax & tags. It was a great deal for sure, but it was silver and I did not want the silver, so I passed it up. Still though, that was a brand new leftover for $30K!

IIRC, 09's were based on the SR5, not the Sport, did the $30k one have 4wd and all the goodies along with Xreas? if it did, $30k was a fantastic price.

That's not correct. All Urban Runners were based off the Sport Edition. They all come with XREAS and the hood scoop too. BTW, Urbans were only made for '08 & '09.

You are probably thinking about the Trail, which was '09 only and was based off the SR5

I have to agree paying that much for a car with 29,000 miles seems like a poor bet. In addition that's a pretty high mileage for the model year. Then you're only 6,000 miles from being out the bumper to bumper warantee. Six months or so after you buy it, you're on your own or out the price of an extended policy.

I'd say at least look for something new as a option. It will be a one year newer model, and have you covered for additional 2.5 years. Not to mention be a very huge difference 29K lower on the mileage. For example there is a black Sport model that was on Auto Trader. It's at a Toyota dealer in Salt Lake. The Sport is the same as the urban without the Tom Tom and suede seats. With the bad pub for Toyota running high, you might pick up a new car for only a few thousand more than a used one with a lot of miles.

The Sport is the same as the urban without the Tom Tom and suede seats. .

There are some other differences too. The Ubran has the 18" Limited wheels. It also has color-keyed grille, and the rear spoiler without the hump (which I think looks much better). Overall, I think the Urbran was a really nice package for the 4Runner.
