Took the Pitts S2-C out today..........

Took a check airmen to monitored the radio. I plugged in The Verve .... Bittersweet Symphony on repeat play over the BoseII and tumbled through the box. If you get a chance theres nothing like it, thats aerobatics or the song LOL

Always loved the Pitts planes--if I had the cash, I'd definitely be interested in a nice tandem 2-seater. The best I've done for experience was ride along in a WWII SNJ-4, the Navy's top fighter-trainer plane, while the pilot did a full set of aerobatic maneuvers. I filmed the whole ride from the inside--it's pretty cool! The pilot said I was the first one that taped up there and didn't puke! I'm a helicopter nut, too, and have been up a few times, including a Huey ride in the open doorway--fun times! Oh yeah, I like the song, too.

While in training, I puked my guts out during and after every misson for weeks. The worst-puking; and the best feeling-mastering a maneuver; all wrapped up in one experience. Another cool experience, a T-38 Talon in the pattern. You'll soon realize you're strapped to a rocket with something resembling a wing or as some called it the knifes edge. Robinsons R22 are cool but the throwover cyclic stick is a bit funky. Thanks for sharing........

One of my favorite books about a pilot, simply called Maverick (no, not Tom Cruise!), gives a great recollection of the author's training in a helicopter. This guy is hilarious, talking about "helicopter epilepsy" as he tried to control the thing, and how his instructor faked him into relaxing by hitting the "autopilot" switch (they DON'T HAVE autopilot!). He'd hit the switch (some dead switch in the bird), Mav would think he wasn't controlling it, and calm down into a smooth hover--the inst. would flip the switch off, Mav would freak out, and back came the "seizures"--great stuff! I envy you, friend!
