Technically this is Top Gear 2.0 you could say. The previous Top Gear that ran from 1978-2002 was actually about cars.

The new Top Gear is hands down the best TV show on earth. UK of course.

When the US announcers introduced their Stig and explained (well, attempted to explain the enormous brilliance that is the Stig) what the Stig is they ruined the Stig... Stig.

You simply must see the Vietnam Special, the Bolivia Special, Polar Special and the Botswana Special if you haven't already.
 
UK version for sure, I get a kick out of Clarkson picking on Hammond and May and then there's comebacks, it's just really hilarious and they always have the best challanges.

The new US version, not so much. Although it isn't completely horrible, I just find their not as funny together and for some reason they all seem to hate Toyota (well at least the italian and the tall skinny guy do). The loser of their 4x4 challange had to drive a Tundra, that was his punishment! I'll still watch it, I just think they have somethings to work on.
 
I like the UK version as well. I agree the US version isn't nearly as charming and entertaining.

One thing I get annoyed with in the UK version, is every time an American is mentioned on the show, they are quick to mention fat people.

I wish the US version would mention bad teeth, spotted ****s, and fog breathing when the English are mentioned.
 
UK is way better, the US honestly just doesn't even compare. Too up tight and just not the same in my opinion.

but you guess which way I would have...

1)Hamster, Jeremy and May actually have personalities.

2)The US version hosts are about as entertaining as Oatmeal thrown on the floor and left for a week.

3)UK's version reviews on cars (when they do such a thing) are honest, and not influenced by Detroit or any other manufacturer, OR viewers. (Imagine if the US version actually gave real reviews on Detroit cars. They would have death threats by Billy-Joe-Bobby-Lee who have ony driven and Olds)
4)US version lacks imagination, chemistry, entertainment, style.

I want to know how they picked the US hosts. Mail in lottery? Stood outside a hospital and waited for the 1st 3 guys to come in passing kidney stones?
 
UK is more informative, but US deal more with our market vehicles.

Us needs to get into the technical side more and give us the objective good and bad on a machine when it is evaluated. UK DOES THAT HOLDING NOTHING BACK.

100% agree. The big guy with glasses is the worst. I tried to give it yet another shot last night and BARELY made it through the hour. Had to cleanse my pallet by watching some old UK Top Gear episodes online afterwards. Everything is so forced.

He's the best out of the three. Easy. Adam is my least favorite.

I like all of them though.
 
Top Gear UK all day. The US version is complete garbage. I will say that the India special of the UK version was a giant let down.

I've tried to watch the US version but I end up quitting after 10 minutes. I will say that Tanner Foust is the best of the 3 since he is a pro racing driver but that's about it. Rutledge just isn't funny like he tries to be and Adam seems to know nothing about cars.

Who here has watched the first 3 seasons of new Top Gear UK?

I have, and it was rough to sit through, and although i don't feel that the US version will be nearly as good as UK, you can't compared a show that has been around for 18 seasons to a show that is on its 2nd season.

Haha the first car they reviewed was a Citroen Berlingo! :barf: The new TG was originally intended to be another car review show like it was before, then it changed after James May replaced that awful Jason Dawe (I don't even know how he got there in the first place).

What Top Gear USA is trying to do is be what TG UK is now, and doing very badly at it, so IMO not a fair comparison.

I totally agree. They were going into uncharted territories and figuring it out as they went along. The US version is just trying to mimic it too much. As my boy KRS-1 says, "You've got to have style and learn to be original. Or everybody's gonna start dissin' you."

Ahhh maybe I'm late to the party but I thought Top Gear UK had ENDED completely.

I know there is a sh$tty US version but that is it.

Are they bringing the UK version back?

I've always been a fan of Tanner Foust, so I'm a little biased.

I use to think the U.S. version was ok, but the fact that they copied a couple episodes from UK was kinda lame.

Now however, I have seen every single episode of Top Gear UK and Top Gear U.S.
Top Gear U.S. has copied EVERY episode from UK. EVERY single one!
