Top of the World Trail MOAB Stock TRD Pro?

Good Evening,
We are off to MOAB in May in a 2019 TRD PRO. It is mainly stock apart from C4 sliders and expedition mods. We have the stock FOX suspension and the stock A/T tyres (NITTO TERRA Grapplers). Rear locker.

Looking at trails in MOAB probably do the below:
Chicken Corners
Shafer Trail
White Rim - If I can secure camping.
Onion Creek
Fins and Things
Hells Revenge (But bypass harder sections)

We would love to do the Top of the World trail.
Is it at all possible in a stock TRD PRO? I am not an expert level driving offroader (1years experience)

You’ll rash your front bumper for sure and probably make use of the sliders. I was just on this trail in October and it has gotten much harder then the previous times I have done it. Many of the ledges are very dug out and the trail is a lot of broken ledges and rock. Give it a try and if you get to stuff you’re not comfort with just park and walk the rest of the way. It generally gets harder as you get further up the trail. The lookout at the top is absolutely worth it.

Did all the bottom 3 plus top of the world a few weeks ago. Doable but will say top of the world has eroded a bit more. Could scratch the bumpers

You can do it, but choose your lines wisely. You’re going to bang metal and drag plastic. A lot.

As said, the further in/higher you go the harder it will get. That’s where it gets it’s higher rating from.

All of those trails are doable with ToW being the most difficult. I've done ToW twice. I didn't scrape my front much but dragged the hitch and banged the front skid a few times. You'll have some trail damage to the plastics for sure but mostly underneath. I did it about a year ago, was running 33" tires at the time. There were three to four hard obstacles with one of them in particular that I struggled with the first time I went. Second time just kind of went for it bumped over it. Stack rocks when you can. Follow lines previously taken as those are typically the easiest. Also there are bypasses on the trail too, just make sure you walk it to find which way it is. Also on your way back down don't take the side to the right, that's the even more difficult side.

But that's the fun way! Especially in a thunderstorm where the it looks like you're in a creek and you realize you're the tallest thing on the side of the mountain when lightning strikes.

The trail itself isn't much fun, but the view from Hurrah Pass is pretty nice. Also, if you get to the end, and have the stones to walk around the ledge, it's pretty neat to be on the other side.

I'm not afraid of heights, and I've walked it several times. I took my kids last time, and I was puckered beyond all reason walking around it with them. I WON'T be doing that again.:withstupid:

You could also look at Tusher Tunnel, Secret Spire, and Rainbow Terrace. Those are all NW of town off 313, near Tombstone Rock. If it's your first time out, those are all relatively easy, fun enough, and have something worth seeing while you do it. You could even head out to the White Wash Sand Dunes from there and tear ass through the desert.

Looks like I am taking my own advice. We've scheduled a trip at the end of March, and we are planning to do rainbow terrace to the dunes.

There are no user groups that do meaningful maintenance on any trails that I'm aware of.

Nice pictures. That ledge looks way worse than even when I last saw it in 2015. I don't remember a winch anchor point in place there and told RR4W to add one and by the way why is there one on an easy obstacle like the waterfall on Poison Spider but not this ledge. I think RR4W does maintenance on some of the trails because I'm a member and get their newsletter and see occasional trail maintenance mentioned. They need to get out and do some here for sure.

I will get on Google Earth and check those other areas out. We managed to secure 2 nights camping on the White Rim so weather permitting thats a go. I will most likely leave Top of the World. We are planning a trip to Colorado next summer i can do it then. Will have a 2-3inch lift and 33s then.

I'm thinking my stock rear will kiss some rocks, I'm just hoping it stays on. The right side from the top doesn't entirely seem worth it on the way down.

Can a stock 4runner do this trail? Yes absollutely but you will tag your bumpers and skids no avoiding it. Its doable though. I would just recommend doing an out and back and not taking the path to the right after you're at the top. Thats the section that I tagged my rear metal bumper the most. Lots of nice chunky rock shelves.
