Top plates with extreme rust

I'm going to be installing some new struts on my front but need to replace my very rusted top plate studs. I was thinking of going with toytecs or daystars spacer kit that comes with new studs....any other better alternatives? I may just get the OEM studs if they are available.

How difficult is it to get these studs out? What kind of tools should I have? I have a vice and BFH but thats about it at my place.

The toytec, daystary ect uses your original top plates with longer stud and add a spacer. It sounds like that wouldn't help you much. The studs knock out really easy with a hammer...

Why wouldn't it help me? Maybe I'm confused or I didn't explain well but that's why I was thinking of using those spacers, to get a little lift (added bonus) and have new studs. Really good to know my studs should come out fairly easy though.

My bad, I thought you wanted to replace your rusty top plates, I completely missed where you said studs. It'll work no problem, the studs pop right out with a hammer and I just crank the new studs into place whith a nut, kinda like doing a wheel stud.

Oh hey, sorry I never got back to your message. I do still have the kit you sold me and I will sell it back to you if you want it. Just let me know.

A press would be ideal. Harbor freight has some cheap ones. I would think you would really have to wail on them with a hammer to get them out.

No problem, Gerdo may have thrown a wrench in that plan anyway when I saw he posted the daystars may over extend our cvs. Trying to find out now if that should be a concern or not.

Ok, I gotcha...thanks for the tip on how to put the new ones in. I may have figured it out after getting to that point but I had hammering the new ones in in mind.

One last thing. It was mentioned before that the daystar 1.25" spacers with longer studs could potentially overextend the cvs. It may be true but I don't see how when people are lifting 3"s with taller coils and AFAIK not reporting problems. Any insight on this?

For the record I'm installing bilstein 5100s and setting them at the 1.25" mark if that makes a difference.

Wheelers off road sells just the studs for 12 dollars. When you run a spacer you run the risk of messing the shock up at full droop I believe.

So I may not get a spacer after all. I mean its not needed but I was looking for more adjustability with my stock springs and adjustable 5100s. I wanted to stay away from adjusting the billies up to the highest setting since I kinda like my factory ride and thought a top out spacer coupled with the 1.25" setting would work out great for me.

If this wasn't my daily driver I'd be more out to test my boundaries with a suspension set up "I think will work" rather than one I know won't or atleast shouldn't have problems.
