Totally unfair question - silver vs grey

I heard that even a paint correction will remove this coating (i.e. DA polishing). Seems like a high price for something that will come off when I do a paint correction.

Paint correction is done as part of the prep work.

Once done properly, it shouldn't need doing again. Obviously it would take this finish off as in its nature it takes some of the paint top layer/clearcoat off to create a surface as flat as possible.

I guess if it does need doing again, that's what the lifetime warranty is for. I figured if I don't need to polish the thing again for a few years, and it makes cleaning an easier job, it's worth it.

Nano Coatings: Are They Worth it?

What are the requirements for your warranty? Sounds like these coatings are good, but since correction is still needed eventually, and most warranties require upkeep, this does not sound great to me for what I consider to be an insane price. Then again, I do not mind taking a couple hours every year to do a two stage polish and wax.

If the warranty is truly lifetime with no required maintenance, it would be great. Just sounds too good to be true.

The Titanium Silver 4th gen always "looked" clean. Had it many years and it was always easy to keep looking nice. Grey plastic body accents were a different story...even with Mothers Back to Black.

That said, the MGM 5th gen looks incredible when it's clean and waxed, BUT it doesnt take much to make it look...un-clean. The 2015 rig definitely sees the guys at the car wash (hand wash only) more frequently than the 4th gen did. I specified hand wash because the MGM shows swirls like crazy, probably as much as any darker finish. Only reason I didn't get silver again was that I drove a silver 4Runner for more than a decade and figured life is too short to get the same color/shade twice.

Black looked awesome, but only after the old Meguiar's 3-step process (2000 Xterra Super Black) and white (30th Anniversary Camaro Arctic White) required professional detailing.

Silver looks great on the 14 and up with the front grill style. It's also awesome at hiding imperfections in general daily driving abuse. It's also much cooler. All-around I'm very happy with it.

The gray would be my choice because I want a Trail/TRD Offroad and while I like silver, the fact the silver would make the center bumper trim not stand out on those models would bother me. A bit absurd I realize, but I like the two-tone look.

b/c i'll buy the vehicle based on its condition before ill buy it b/c of any particular color. Its this reasoning that had me buy my desert dune 3rd and silver 4th gens. :beer:

This article made me laugh but it is so true. Branch out! (though I have a grey 4Runner so I am part of the problem). I would consider selling mine today if they released a 4Runner in Spruce Green Mica...damn I want that color.
