Towing a pop up through the Rockies

Hey everyone, we're taking delivery of a 2022 TRD Off Road 4x4 at the end of the month. Heading from Houston to Calgary next month. How would it do towing a 24' 2900 lb pop up through the Rockies? Texas to Colorado to Wyoming to Montana to Alberta. Loaded weight probably 3500 lbs.

I'll install a trailer brake controller and weight distribution hitch, but power at altitude and length are my biggest concerns.

I towed a pop up behind my Dodge Caravan for years through Colorado. You should have no problem at all as long as you stay below the max weight. Trailer brakes are nice (the 4Runner comes from the factory with a plug in cable for the trailer brakes.)

I never used, nor felt I needed a load equalizing hitch. I'm not even sure the OEM hitch receiver on the 4Runner will accommodate a load equalizing hitch for the receiver tube is so short.

Just keep it in S3 or S4 when necessary and stay in the right lane.
