I have I just completed cleaning and rustproofing the bottom of my 2007 V8 4WD 4runner which I just bought this month. The vehicle has only 78k miles on it, and was garage kept its whole life, so it is in amazing condition. Even the underside is in great shape too, with only minor surface rust on the weld seams.
However as is common for our cars, there's significant rust on the Towing/Trailer hitch area. I have the Weight Distribution setup that came with my car, and even though it was never even used, the damage was concerning. Although the hitch itself was not bad, with only minor surface rust, I just replace it anyway to be safe.
Check out this picture below, you'll see the damage to the bolts and mounting plates. Keep in mind, 78K miles.
Obviously I need new bolts and plates. So I have checked online at several OEM Toyota parts dealers, and I could not find the diagram for the Weight Distribution hitch.
Can anyone point to a link to this, or add a picture of the diagram?
