Towing with 4 Bikes

Just showing some photos I found from camping last summer in case anyone was interested. Bought all the parts on ebay, just need to make sure there the right towing capacity if you get them

Bought a dual hitch, used the top to put in my bike rack and the bottom for the trailer. The bikes were too close to the trailer so I had to buy an extender for the bottom section that was about a foot or foot and a half I cant remember. They were like around 50 each or so on ebay. bought myself some longer tow chains and was able to tow it on a 700 mile trip no problem with 4 bikes and the car loaded. I did have to buy a new tow ball and instead of it dropping an inch or two I had to invert it so the ball sat higher because of the extensions so it wouldnt scrape the ground going over bumps. Ill be doing the same setup again with my new pop up I just recently bought!

As in the trunk of the car? Completely full, there was only 3 of us in the 4Runner with half of the back seats folded down and we filled it to the top! My new tent trailer I bought has a storage locker in the front so I will have plenty more room next road trip

Is there a way to mount the bikes to the top of the pop-up trailer? That may help with some of the sag in the back end.

Looks like you guys were ready for a good time. I've been kicking around the idea of a pop-up trailer to take the kids camping.

You can buy cross bars for the top of the pop up, then you have to bike the bike mounts, this worked great and was about $50 for the dual hitch inverter and another $50 for the extender since I already had the bike rack.

ICD: Brakes were great! Just used second gear when going down some hills. Had a buddy in his 04 sport trac towing his pop up and bikes and his brakes starting burning going through the forest, my 4runner held up great!
