Towing with SS 1.2

I'm looking at getting an ultralight travel trailer for camping and living in when I'm working out of town. I know the Runner is rated for 5k, but that's stock form. 285s on the SS 1.2 isn't exactly stock anymore.
I wanted to know if there's people out there with towing experience riding the SS 1.2 and Tokicos in the rear?
How much weight and what do you tow?

I have the SS 1.2 kit and have towed many times from an empty 1,000 lb trailer to 3,500 lbs across 2 states. I love that it rides level, and have had good experience with the setup. I have Tokicos in the rear as well.

I do appreciate my 231 mm Tundra brakes and auxiliary transmission cooler as well while towing. In fact, my TBU has saved my life as well as my wife's a few times when I had to slam on them because a 5 point elk that ran out in front of us while towing 2,500 lbs at 65 MPH.

The trailer I'm looking at is about 3200 lbs loaded. I'm more worried about swaying at speed than anything being that the truck is considerably higher than stock. We live in a mountainous area so lots of hills and windy roads.

I did the Tundra brake update soon after I got the Runner. Never a bad idea to be able to stop.

With the proper drop hitch, it doesn't really matter how tall the tow vehicle is.

Sway is usually a combination of overall weight of the trailer, how much is on the tongue, and wheelbase of the vehicle doing the towing. There are sway control hitches which are highly effective if sway is ever a problem.

Yeah, I'm getting a antisway hitch to minimize problems, or at least potential ones on the highway.

There is always Steve's air bag kit he has specifically for your lift.

No personal experience with that exact setup, but have towed with bags before, makes big difference in controlling the bobbing up and down.

So with your full weight trailer you felt no sway or slight bobbing when going over bumps?

Well, look at that. Not sure why it never occurred to me to see if Steve had anything available. I've had experience with airbags on other trucks used for towing and they definitely help.

The LC tokicos are the correct shock for this application. I think you'll be fine. When I swapped out my black tokicos for Bilstein 5100's, it got much more loose and sloppy back there--would not have been a good setup for towing.

I just installed a set of airbags on a 5th gen last weekend--might be good insurance at $80 and about an hour to install.

Truck rides level, not sure about the tounge weight, towed the largest single axle UHaul trailer from NM to UT, all the heavy stuff was up front.

i towed over 2 tons (supercharged, 5 speed) from fort worth tx to belgrade mt (thru colorado) with a ss 1.2. used a 5" hitch drop. everything was great. trailer was a cargomate vnose dual axle so that helped, but the ss 1.2 is a great setup and the truck will do just fine. i was doing 70-80 down from passes (tundra brakes up front, good controller for the trailer). just mind yourself and everything around and have a good feel for the truck, youll be fine.

Thought I'd update this for anyone else that might be looking for similar info.

Got the trailer, it's 3000lbs loaded. The truck has about another 500lbs+ of crap in the back in that pic. Rides fairly level thanks to the anti-sway hitch. Bags are likely in the future though.

She's not going to win any races, especially up and down all the hills around here, but I'm loving the setup.
