Thanks for the compliments! I finally got more information on the 1st-gen 4Runners and your color is officially called Bright Gold Metallic and this is what it should look like:

That's my gold 84! I just posted pics under the 3d8 color code two days ago.

I want to say thank you for compiling this information. It can be helpful when looking up random Toyota facts.

I linked up to your site while researching the differences in the Matrix from 03 to 08, and then I wanted to see if the color codes for the new gold Matrix was the same as my 84. Well, its not, but the colors look close enough that I might just use the Matrix touch up paint.

I noticed that there are two codes for the bright gold metallic. That's interesting.

Oh, rest assured, when I decide to repaint and restripe, its going to be 3D8 again!

I think I found a mistake

You also have 4E1 listed as bright gold metallic, and the pictures of the 4runners for 4E1 look just like my 3D8. If you look at the other Toyota 4E1 color codes, you will find a celica that is more of a traditional gold color. I am thinking that is the correct color for 4E1.

I will look around on yotatech to see if I can compare.

Thanks again

P

I'm thinking it was an error on my chart. Now that we know the 1984 Bright Gold was 3D8 then it eliminates 4E1 anyway. I updated the chart so 3D8 runs from 1984-1986.

Thanks guys, this is exactly why I like feedback from owners! I want my page to be as accurate as possible.

That looks like a CLEAN 92! (The one sprayed FJ yellow). Thank you for the info, i'll try to look on my 87 later and get back
