Toyota Battery Size?

toyota replacement battery is the truestart. it comes in 2 types the trustart and the trustart 2(smaller and a lil cheaper)the tru2 is about $10 cheaper than the trustart. $79 + tax the trustart is about $89 + tax. the only dowside is the dealer dings you for about $50 for install(i know its a lot considering time to do/enough w/stealership screamin)but you get a 2 year full replacment wty and a prorated beyond that.

No, but I haven't a clue what the spec is on it. Do you? There's certainly nothing on the battery. Toyota parts at the dealer are expensive so I didn't even give it a thought. It did last ten years though.

I have access to 3 Toyota Dealerships within 40 miles of my home. Call your local dealers up and tell them you are shopping and see what kind of deal you get. I bet you will be surprised at the price differences. Just make sure you save the invoice and you can put it in yourself. It's a very easy install.

Here is a LINK to a Toyota list of Battery sizes for all Toyotas. For 3G 4Runners, the spec is as follows:

1996-2000 4 Cyl. 3RZFE 24F
1996-2000 4 Cyl. 3RZFE OPTION 27F
1996-2002 V6 5VZFE 35
1996-2002 V6 5VZFE OPTION 24F

The full warranty is only 24-months, with pro-ration out to 84-months. Personally, I only consider the full warranty on the argument that the pro-rata warranty only pays enough to be relevant if it is a crappy battery to start with, and then you are stuck paying for x% of a crappy battery.

The Toyota TrueStart is a US-manufactured replacement probably from Johnson or Exide. It is a poor substitute for the awesome OE Panasonic that came in our trucks. I got a full seven years out of mine. I have not heard great things about the TrueStart.

Will this battery fit? good price good CCA I like the double posts. I know the ground is on opposite side but I am going to do all new cables so let me know what you think.

If the terminals being on the wrong sides isn't going to be an issue since you're doing new cables, the next problems you'll come across is that it'll be too short height, width, and length-wise for the stock battery tray and tie down. I just put an Odyssey 34R into mine last week, and I needed a snap on spacer/adapter specifically designed to fit in place of a 27F battery. Now, the only issue I have after the adapter is the brackets on the stock tie down are too wide, which would be a simple fix with a welder and a small piece of angle iron. Otherwise, it's a nice fit.

It appears the 24 has the same width and depth as the 34, but the 24 is an inch taller. So if you went with the 24 you wouldn't need the spacer right?

Optima odyssey or??

I can not figure out what we should get to upgrade battery wise. We have a 1997 4runner limited 4x4 v6. Currently we are running a 24f interstate battery from Costco but it's on its third year almost 4th. We want to upgrade, allowing us to use a portable air compressor on it and possible light bar in the future or if we need to tow. We would still like to have the same height battery (just dropped $60 on the bracket from the dealership), but be able to have a lower drainage and if we are out camping be able to leave a led light on for a while. Anyways I can't seem to chose which is the correct size for my 4runner, 24f or 35 group. What's the difference between OEM and AGM. And also what would meet all the needs we have. Optima I heard has gone down hill and lost quality control. Odyssey doesn't have that great of reviews that I have seen versus the optima. Or is there something better? Thanks! :yield:
