The second part was not about companies "speaking different languages".
Let me explain.
Over the past 10 years I've travelled extensively in Korea, the Russian Far East, and China. Today's China has several huge industrial cities, larger than New York, Chicago or LA. When you walk through these cities, all you see are giant constuction cranes everywhere, building new skyscrapers to house the offices of their new industries. South Korea is the same.
My point is, that the Asian industrial infrastructure is growing at a rate that 99% of the American populace can't even imagine.
And here, in America, a large part of our people are more concerned about gay marriage and preventing stem cells cures than they are about the demise of American industry.

But mostly, I was offended by your "pre-fag' comment, and the idiotic website you linked to.

The Jesus that I understand, from an excellent Jesuit education, taught that tolerance and love are virtues. Bigotry and hatred are not virtuous.

And speaking of love, allow me to invite you to comment on my thread regarding the features you love about your 4Runner.

Forgiveness only requires repentance, which is the turning away from sin. It doesn't matter what you did or where you come from- that's the tolerance I'm sure you speak about.

You can't turn away from sin if you don't know/admit it is a sin. That's the goal of some groups through the media- "you're okay, I'm okay, whatever feels okay *to me* must be right, and I'm entitled to do whatever I want- and you should not only tolerate it, you should support it"

As far as the denial by others ("some scheme by the church..."), you can deny gravity, too. Jump around and tell me how it must not be real because you can break free of it any time you want.

But I know better than to step off the cliff to test your theory. I *know* you'll fall and your denial wouldn't stop any of us from trying to grab you if you ran for the cliff, regardless of your lack of belief.

Don't accept it because I said so. Ask questions because you have them. The more questions you ask, the more you'll learn. The more you learn, the more you will understand.

Here's a few words on being politically-correct and never offending anyone.

Agreed. My last post was already "in the mail" when you posted....

I apologize if my comments felt like a personal attack. There's a gray area between disputing/debating a position and someone taking it personally.

I do hope people took my comments personally, but not as an attack.

I have seen Ford's product lines fall to poor quality repeatedly over the past few years.

My friend recently purchased a new F150, and it looks nice and all, but my old 1986 seems much more robust and "tough."

I don't think Toyota should have anything to do with Ford...

So, even if this coop is only limited to hybrid technology, by purchasing Toyota I will be paying for research and development that benefits Ford. No way I'll put the bread on the table of fat and rich Fords execs.

I have a different view. I have never boguht a Ford or a GM, but if they made a car I wanted and it was built with quality, I would buy it. Nothing would please me more than to keep the big automobile companies here in the USA. Of course their big push in the ads is "bold moves", nothing about quality. But I keep hoping that one day Ford or even GM is the king of quality, well made cars.

I have to say that in the past my family and i have bought ford for the most part. My current vehicle is a 1998 explorer (2007 4 runner on order) and the reason i switched brands was that the build quality of the ford was terrible when i was comparing this time. My explorer looks like some kind of luxery vehicle compared to the new explorers. The everything is built cheaper and looks that way as well.

The toyota 4 runner on the other hand looks really nice and has the quality i was looking for. I test drove the sequoia because i really want something a little larger but all i could think about was expedition when i looked around and drove it. Thats the feel and look that suv had to me to it was instantly out of my choices. It seems very similar to the around 2000 generation expeditions.

All i can say is if they merge i hope they dont drop the quality any in the merge. I Think thats one of the big reasons domestics are hurting now. They just dont build them like the used to. It seems like every new generation or even year of a vehicle you can see things getting cheaper but the price rises.

Ok off my rant. Im just glad i found a good replacement for my explorer even though after 8 years i hate to give it up.

Ford has been producing crap for at least the last 40 years. I owned a Ford once, worse car I ever owned. It's amazing how many people I know who have also owned exactly ONE Ford, after that they learned to never buy them again.

I'm sorry for the people who work there (not management) but Ford can go bankrupt, the sooner the better, to keep them from polluting the world with any more junk.

There is an "honor system" which means no personal attacks, and be responsible and respectful. Moderators intervene if one or more parties can't behave themselves. Unfortunately, it happens from time to time...

Here's a thought.

If a company's CEO/CFO, board member, or other Sr person commits unethical acts, it's usually front page news. Doesn't matter if it is related to his/her duties. But as any investor knows, it certainly *does* affect a company.

If someone commits unethical and other deplorable acts in their personal lives, one should strongly consider whether they should be doing business together.

If a company takes an *official corporate position* of promoting such activities, it's easy to see how well over 600,000 people are actively signed up and participating in the boycott. There are often quite a few more who won't sign up, but will boycott anyways.

Many Ford dealers have also complained to Ford mgt, but as of yet have been unheeded.

*That* is significant and directly related to a company's performance. Certainly Toyota wouldn't want to be any part of that PR nightmare

It's a common perception that someone's personal beliefs and actions are unrelated to their business practices. Not so. If someone lies to you personally, you can bet he'll lie/cheat in business.

Anyways, that's enough for now. I did not intend for this to be so long or sound like a lecture. Just trying to be thorough, so fair and respectful to your position while clarifying the information in question.

Don't recall if it was in that article or not. But possible talks or an alliance/partnership can help Toyota as well. Not like Toyota needs it, but it can help. Toyota growing as fast as it has and taken Big Three market share can cause a backlash among the American consumer. I don't know about where other members are, but I still see bumper stickers from time to time that say something along the lines of "Don't buy or boycott import or specifically Japanese, buy American." The person who put that sticker on their car is about as ignorant as those whom Toyota executives fear the backlash from. They're the ones that believe Toyota is taking away jobs from the American auto industry when in fact there is a huge number of Toyotas and other import brands built right here in the US. The number that lost their jobs with the Big Three are probably made up with the domestically built import brands. There was an article somewhere that the Camry and/or Sienna is more American than the Ford Mustang, i.e. it has more components made in the US.

With that said, I hope Toyota doesn't have nothing to do with Ford. I rather see them continue a partnership with GM building a twin like the Matrix/Vibe. I hope the popular models remain exclusive to Toyota and there won't be a GM variant.

Definitely won't see a merger... Maybe a sharing of technology, but you are talking about 2 entirely different cultures trying to merge. There are a lot of companies that share technology, even amongst competitors, mainly due to the need to comply with federal or environmental regulations.
