I don't really know much about it, but I think it looks wicked sweet! Toyota FT-1 Concept Car revealed today at the Detroit Auto Show.

What I've read (all unofficial) is that it's sporting a BMW V10 from an M5, 7-speed double clutch gearbox, active aerodynamics (rear wing deploys at a minimum, confirmed on Toyota FB), carbon fiber side panels, and some kind of heads-up display (HUD). That all sounds super expensive, and I saw one guy mention that Toyota said it was supposed to be a $50k-$60k vehicle and not fancy enough to be in Lexus territory, so it might lose some of those features if those are real so it would be cheaper. I've also seen a lot of chatter about a hybrid drive train.

Sounds like there is a possibility of it being the Mark V Supra, again speculation though.

I think it looks super sexy though and it's one of the few cars I would be willing to own, if it didn't change for production anyhow!

Looks pretty sweet. Is it AWD or RWD? It's like a beefed up FR-S. I guess Toyota wants to put their name back in the sports car world. It is a good middle ground between the FR-S and the LFA.

RWD is what I've read, if it could compete with the GT-R that would be sweet. The LFA is sick but I feel like it's kind of a let down as far as performance goes, at least for its price tag. Like you said, something between it and the FR-S would be cool. I want to know if it really has a V10 in it, and why not just go with a 6/8 cylinder smaller engine or why not use the LFAs V10 (price, exclusiveness?).

Unless it is AWD with turbos and launch control, it would be hard to compete with the GT-R. What's the listed HP and torque for the FT-1. Using the BMW V-10 may be their way to get into the market of buyers that buy other makes of sports cars using BMW built engines.
I'm surprised they didn't go with a Toyota 4.0V6 or one of their V8s and supercharge/put turbos on it.
