Actually, it is your browser and search engine. Google Chrome, Bing are notorious for it. Smart Ads, how they make money. They literally spy on your writing to "tailor" ads for you.

You can turn it off on Google.

It can be funny, I searched for "lift" information and got all sorts of ads trying to sell me a forklift. Block the damn things Mike.

Right now I'm getting "Endless Possibilities - Jeep" in the banner ad and "North Carolina Waterfront" in the footer ad. It has something to do with what you tend to browse. (Hangs head in shame for the Jeep peeking.) I swear it was only for the cheap, easy mods thread.

On the Jeep Forum the easy mods are 500 pages of "cover it in plastidip" and, "look what I made with paracord."

Now I press enter four times so the footer ad doesn't look like I posted it.

And now that you said Jeep, we'll all get Jeep ads once the cookies pick up on it. :)

Careful what you say and search for. Hell with the NSA, they've got nothing on Google, Facebook, etc.

I let my wife use the computer to look at some shoes on Zappos. Now I get ads for Danskos everywhere I turn…. :wof:

It just started happening last night & only here , kinda weird but ya sucks internet autoguide

Im pretty sure you have a virus. I had a consultant come to my office who had the same thing. Every webpage he went to (internally to our network) he was getting pop up ads and links to content. But since there are all intranet sites we obviously dont have ads

Turns out he was infected with something that was causing it, I dont remember what he had as for it was a few months ago.... Can you post a pic of what you are seeing?

ive noticed this place is being crammed with Ads.

I don't think that it's what's happening now, but this site has picked up a virus in the past. However, there are a couple of things I've noticed lately:

Some of my Chrome extensions (smooth gestures most recently) will insert ads into my web browsing. You can turn them off, but it seems like every time the extension updates, it changes my preferences. I've had to disable a ton of extensions and enable them one-by-one to figure out just what extension is showing the ads.

I recently found Ghostery. It seems to block a few more things than adblock and is just as configurable (ie, whitelisting sites). I've also tried Noscript, but it seems to be more of a hassle than what it's worth. Give Ghostery a try.
