anyone know the shelf life? I found a tube in an old toolbox. It’s still playable but it’s been there for about 10 years plus [emoji2957]

It's probably fine. The material is completely sealed in aluminum coated plastic so no permeation of oxygen or moisture is possible.

Depends on what your temperature swings are. Here we get into the low 100's and last winter an unbelievable 20 below. Really kills the shelf life of anything stored in garages or storage sheds. If you do wind up using it for something like a transmission pan seal, keep to the timetable. Toyota isn't kidding around when they say you've got about 10 minutes.

I've got one that's about 15 years old. I think I'd use it for a junky home project that called for RTV, but get new if I was sealing something important on the car, like the oil pan.

You could test it first on some junk lying around. If it was bad I think it wouldnt even come out of the tube probably.

Fwiw I read in an amazon review that the guy said he talked to Toyota tech and the tech said in their experience, as long as it squeezed out of the tube properly, it was still good. Ie. no clumps, wrong consistency, etc.

Kinda the ultimate internet hearsay, so ymmv.

I'm pretty OCD but I would use it, It is sealed after all. If there is going to be anything wrong with it you should be able to tell when applying it.

I've had Permatex RTV that's been opened for a few months start producing the clumps. When I see the clumps, I make plans to open a new tube.

I agree with this. Ive had stuff like that go from -50 to +100 and a couple of years old and still seemed fine, But agree with above...if you are wondering its ability to be good, use in non critical places...or places easy to do again.
