Toytec Coilovers w/ OME 906s & Bilstein 5125s?

Does anyone run the Toytec Coilovers in the front w/ OME 906s in the back w/ Bilstein 5125s? This may sound crazy but I like the idea of dialing the Toytecs down to a ~2" lift for now with the option of swapping out the 2" OME 906s in the future to go up to 3 - 3.5" (hence the Bilstein 5125s).... e.g. OME 890s, LCs, etc.

I feel like this initial setup would probably avoid the need for the longer brake line, parking brake bracket, bump stops and panhard bar... which with shipping is over $450.... BUT affords me the ability to bump up my lift in the future fairly easily (these parts plus the different coils). After all the reading I'm going to go with the 265/75-R16s tires.

How do you think this setup would ride in the rear? (any concerns with the Bilstein 5125s with the shorter coils?)

I am interested also. This is the exact kit I'm thinking about running on my 97 (including tires). Was considering going with the remote reservoirs in the rear, but I see toytec doesn't have them listed as an option anymore for some reason. Is there any difference in the ride when adjustable coilovers are set lower?

A) Are the Bilstein 5125s too long for OME 906s?
B) Are they too soft/bouncy of a shock for this coil? -- what is the ride like? (for a DD)

I'm going to be ordering them today... but would love to know before I attempt to install them.

This too! (also have this concern) I will probably set them to 1.5 or 1.75" to have a little bit of rake... the coils will be more compressed.

Yeah you can run that setup. It will work just fine and honestly ride pretty nice. There is no issues with the 5125's and 906's paired together. The ride with the toytec coilovers is great and much improved over the stock setup when set anywhere from 0" of lift up to about 3.5". Anything over that is when they will start to not ride as good.

Thanks sn0wrunner! I just ordered this kit -- will post before and after pics and feedback on the experience. My 164K original shocks are SHOT.... the truck is wobbly and the coils are sagged. Excited to get this all installed!

And when it is no longer my DD... I can put those 906s up for sale and go with 890s or LCs, 33s, etc to have a little more fun!

Bilstein has discontinued the 5150's

They make them for the FJ/4th gen and we do have some in stock. The Fj/4th gen shocks work well for LC coils or our new Superflex coils but are generally a little long for the OME 906, 890, or 891's

I Had the same premise

as you but used tundra coils/5150 on the 1st notch =ing 2" of front end lift paired with 906/10mm trims and the bilstein 4600 HDs for something like 2.0 to 2.5" in back. i really like the set up alot

When you get this setup in and working let us know how you like it. I would be curious to know how the 5125's work with the 906's, and how much usable travel you have from the shock at ride height.

I have 890's right now and need some shocks....

I assume the 5125's need the upper shock mount adapter?

I can confirm that the 5125s will need some form of bracket/adapter. The top mounts are eye style, stock is stud. I just learned this the hard way, and will probably be ordering some of the OME Nitros instead. I saw 4Ripcord's custom mounts, but am not that creative, smart or skilled. Any other ideas/suggestions for a rear shock with the 906 springs are welcome!

since i only got one spring in and broke a sway bar bolt off slapping it back together crooked i'll save pics for another day and try again --sheesh...

T4RunnerSteve... This weekend I installed the Ultimate lift with the 600lb red coils up front and the 906 coils in the rear with the 5125 shocks. I wanted to see what your impression is of the ride from the rear? I love the way the front handles but the rear seem way too soft. Lift wise I love the stance I have now, but again, I think the rear is too soft, especially when compared to the front.
