Hi all!

I will be re-doing the runners suspension and ordered the toytec suspension with the coilover/silver springs and superflex 3.75" coils with bilstein shocks all the way around(I think it is called the Ultimate suspension system). it already has a 1.5" body lift installed, anything I should know before installing this kit?

I'll leave the questions about the suspension to others who are far more knowledgeable than I. I wanted to tell you that I think it is so great that you are continuing with Nate's build! A fitting tribute to a really great kid!
 
I think it's awesome you're carrying on with your son's plans, sir. I followed his build thread and I think it's a great homage to his memory keeping his truck and building it like he wanted, albeit I never met him or talked to him directly.

As for the lift, it helps to remove the spare tire to get easier access to the nuts on top of the rear shocks (you can sit under the truck more or less, still a pain though). In the front, disconnect the front sway bar from (there's a nut holding the sway bar to the sway bar linkage) and then loosen the upper A-arm bolt (the one that holds the A-arm to the frame, just loosen it, don't have to remove it). Those two actions will allow the suspension to droop to its full capacity and make it easier to remove/install the new coilovers. When you put the coilovers back on, lower the truck so there's weight on them and then retorque the upper A-arm bolt at the new ride height. That's the best advice I can think of right now, hope it helps with the install.
 
A hats off salute to you sir. I don't know your situation, but I will say. Awesome!

I don't know the mileage on your truck. But here's the general advice for most Lift Kit installs on the Tacoma and 4 Runner.

1: Have the Lower Ball Joints, and Outer Tie Rod Ends inspected. (Referred to as LBJ and OTRE) - These are common failure points on this particular platform. Lift kits place a lot more stress on these.

2: Check the front driveshaft boots. Look for cracks, tears, leaks. If any found, have replaced.

3: High suggested, to replace the upper control arms, with ones made to deal with lift kits. Other wise you might find that when you get an alignment done after the lift kit, they may not be able to get the truck into spec.

4: Suggest checking ABS sensor wires, Brake Lines, Parking brake cable, etc all freely clear and will not be over stretched or bound up when the suspension flexes *(really this should be a non-issue, but these are key safety systems. Best to be safe than sorry here).

5: Have fun! Again, super happy to see you following what he would have done. Hats off to you sir.

[MENTION=126883]Diezel[/MENTION] pretty much got all of the things you want to replace when installing a lift. I know the truck mileage is pretty low but rubber does rot. Energy suspension supposedly has a master kit for our 4runners now. Might be something to look into for bushing replacement.

With that much lift get some extended cv axle boots and either panhard drop brackets or adj bar.

Lots of people have them. Long story short is they seem to be good but you have to change some pieces out on the bushings since there is a minor design flaw.

I dont have experience with these exact ones but for the price I would go with something name brand like the LR ones toytec has as an add on to the Boss kit you ordered.

With that said, I do have experience with the "uniball" designed UCA as I ran Camburg arms for a long time. With the uniball exposed and the weather we get in Reno/Tahoe I noticed after a couple years the uniball starting to pit. They do offer replacement or "Rebuild" kits which I ended up doing down the way. I really liked them but remember a different company offering a different design and one that was enclosed so it isnt directly exposed to the elements. Look this up or maybe someone else can chime in!

Aftermarket UCAs (camburg in my experience) helped my toytec ultimate setup a lot. I noticed a huge improvement from alignment to offroad and on road driving. Highly recommended.
 
Update: Had a little chance to work on the runner this weekend, got the rearend buttoned up. With the new coil springs it sits 2" higher compare when it had the stock coil, helper bags and 2" spacer. I wont know when I will get to the front suspension, so far i got new LR UCA(need to assemble those sometime this week) the coilovers and picked up new moog lower ball joints from summit today.:tea:
 
I would cancel that order with Summit and go with OEM for the LBJs. Search around here, you'll see that 99% of the forum will have the same opinion for good reason.

I guess I will be returning the moog LBJ and find some OEM LBJ's.

Update: found some OEM LBJs on eBay PN#43340-39465 and 43330-39585 Sankei 555 brand made in Japan.

I will be returning the moogs to Summit.

For about the same price you can get True OEM LBJ from Camelback Toyota.
Someone on here had a writeup about that Sankei brand and it wasn't good.
 
with increased angle on the CV's you'll want a DIFF DROP KIT......

ALWAYS OEM for ball joints....

with the body lift, it will make it much easier to reach the top nuts front he rear shocks...

you want to consider adding an extended bracket for the rear E-brake cable.... it will be stretched so you will want to alleviate that by making a simple bracket to extend it...

if you come a place where snow falls.... you will want to soak your nuts with PB blaster the day before....

if going with larger tires, the NEW upper control arms should help you clear...

check on toyotapartznet.com for the lbj. They offer a 10% discount on the first order. you will have to order the bolts separatly though

Yes you would think. One thing I know about Ebay is they can list the OEM part #s but that's just so you'll find their listing when you search. You just have to be very careful with the Ebay stuff and that's coming from someone who buys and sells a lot of stuff on there.
If you research Sankei LBJs on the forum you'll see what I'm talking about. They could just be refurbished cores or returns or LBJs that didn't pass the "test". Honestly, there's probably quite a bit of speculation (and this post could be further speculation) and fear mongering in a lot of the posts about the Sankei LBJs but literally for the same price you can get Toyota branded LBJs from Camelback Toyota and have piece of mind with a critical part on our trucks.

Ok, right now I'm out about $260 on the two sets I have(the senkei one is still being shipped hopefully I can stop it or return it later) the moog from summit I can always return for a refund.

I will checkout some real OEM parts tonight.
