Don't think it's hate your getting. I don't remember anybody saying they hated the FJ. Most just sounded like they enjoyed it but it was time to move on.It amazes me how much hate the fjc receives on Toyota sites. They are sweet trucks and I would love to own one.

They're just odd, honestly. For what they are, they can be great off-road vehicles. I believe that everyone that owns one ultimately just realizes that it's missing some features they want or that the features it already has are incredibly inconvenient for use as a daily driver.
I owned a 2010 2dr Wrangler Rubicon and it was an awesome vehicle for off-roading. I can't say enough good things about how it performed off-road, but I was also compromising in everything other category when I used it as a daily driver. I would probably feel the same way about an FJC.
This thread is coming from a guy that has previously mentioned he is afraid to get his 4runner ding'd up in the parking lot. I highly doubt he's about to go get some trail scars.
It just doesn't seem like his kind of vehicle, and people are answering honestly.
If you like it, do it.
I can assure not everyone that owns a FJ ultimately just realizes that it is missing something is totally wrong. We are on our 3rd 4Runner all which have been driven by my wife as they have met her needs. I drive the FJ and would never consider replacing it with a 4Runner as it meets my needs better. I do not want all the bells and whistles th e 4Runner comes with. I prefer more spartan appointments and the unique styling of the FJ.
I visit both FJ forums and this one and see people going both ways routinely. People buy and drive what meets their needs and not everyone's needs align its your opinion.
It would appear enough people felt this way that the FJ sales numbers weren't high enough to keep it in production for the US. I know initially I wanted an FJ... but the blind spots and lack of features led me to the 4Runner.
I agree the sales numbers were no where near what the 4Runner has been but that is not the cause of the departure from the U.S. market. Since launch Toyota has said it would be a 1 generation and done vehicle so they are simply doing what the plan was since inception.
I've always kinda thought the "FJ" line was like the "McRib Sandwich" of Toyota. They bring it out every now an then to a bunch of fanfare and excitement.....then take it away for several years before doing it again.
I thought they were a good deal when I bought mine in 2008 (at around 25k). Then the prices went up dramatically, and I question whether they were worth the 10k hike by the time they pulled the plug.
