I have the same color on my SR5 and was thinking about swapping the factory wheels with matte gray TRD's , but plenty of people told me to leave the stock wheels on. Is that what you ended up doing?

Yep... kept the factory wheels.

Just sending thanks as your original post and pix pushed me toward the Coopers. I notched it up a bit going with LT275/70 17 with Load C. Kept the original rims as well... was looking at the TRD rims and figured I'd let the originals run for a while... no hurry. Thanks again for your posts...

4Runner looks good, congrats! New here myself and already put the TRDP wheels on, couldn't handle driving a stock vehicle. Looking at very similar mods myself, don't want to get too aggressive as mine will mostly be a daily driver. Occasional trails here and there but nothing the factory suspension can't handle. Either way you go, here's a pic of mine to give you an idea of what it will look like with factory suspension. Cheers!

Any issues with offset etc when using the TRD Pro rim/wheels on the stock Trail? Do you need to add a spacer?

-Party Mode button... never understood this... didn't do anything in my LE and is now gone.

I just traded from a 2013 Trail to a 2016 TRDP. One of the first things I noticed was that the Party Mode button was not there. Even though it didn't seem to do much to the sound of the stereo I liked it and miss it in my new 4Runner. If anything, it was a definite conversation starter. Whenever I would go out with my friends in my '13 I would ask them if they were ready to party. If they answered in the affirmative I would push the button and get underway.

Yep, I can't believe what these dealers list any used vehicle for now days... but you're right, this is standard pricing in my area for one of these. The kicker is they usually don't last long though either.

That's crazy. I ended up lying less Han that for my new '16 Trail. It isn't a premium but did come with KDSS so the price point is roughly the same as a premium. I can't believe what these things are getting on the used market.

After going back and forth I swapped our '11 LE for a '15 Trail Premium on Friday. Dealer picked it up and brought it home today. I absolutely LOVE these build threads members are putting together... would love to replicate some of these 4Runners but realistically I won't stray to far from stock. My wife and I need to pack up the bikes & whatever else though and head west to hit some of the trails some of you are fortunate to have in your back yards.

Mods to come... (minor as they may be)

-Husky liners will be here in a few days...
-Will order cargo liner shortly too
-TRD Pro wheels (black)... OK, these have arrived but I gotta say, the factory Trails really look even better on the Trail than I thought. I'm second guessiing putting them on now but I'm assuming within a week I'll be posting pics with the TRD's still. I've also second guessed getting black wheels after seeing the grey TRD's on a few of the 4runners in the TRD wheel thread. Feel free to give your thoughts. Which??? I could keep the Trails.... put on the black or swap out the blacks still for the grey (better on silver??).
-Tires... These Dunlops definitely look much better than the Duelers though they aren't a true AT tire... I'm 90% sure by next week these will be changed out for one of the following... Terra Grappler, Cooper AT3 or ATR, or possibly Duratracs.

Wish list/may do...
-Gobi rack (or similar)... may happen
-Lift... probably won't but I didn't get KDSS in case I do (from the advice found in old threads)
-Blackout roof rack if I go with the black TRD wheels
-Blackout silver on front bumper if I go with black TRD wheels
... I'm sure there will be much more to come! Open to any suggestions...

I will update the thread with a little comparison of our old LE vs new soon. As of tonight I've fallen all over again for 4Runners... :thumb:


4Runner is a Trail Premium with no extras at all other than OEM all weather mats that were already on the sticker. Thanks to all those who post here! Makes life so much easier to figure out things and also so much easier to spend money (which I actually try not to do!).

Yep, that was back when I bought the 4Runner... ended up keeping the Trail rims on it anyway.
