Is this for any type of wheel change even if it's the same diameter? This would suck big time. I was planning to keep OEM 20" wheels with snow tires and then change to a new wheel (new 20" non-OEM or maybe now 17/18") for summer.

Yes, the new sensors in the second set of wheels need to be programed into the ECU. Ateq make a programming tool for about $150 that holds the values for your two sets of tires. When you put the summer tires on you plug this into the OBDII port, push the button and it's done. It's either something like this or have your tire place to it for you when you change tires. Or ignore the light for one set of tires.

the rumor is the GX is going to be called the TX and move to a unibody design, ie: an upscale version of the highlander for lexus.

That will sell better than the GX460.

Thanks! Wow! This forum is such a trove of knowledge! I am also baffled that those tire sensor seem so useless. In other vehicles, I can normally check the tire pressure for each tire - not so from the looks of it on the T4R.

When I pull into the garage with my tires with no tpms the 4runner picks up the signal from the stock tires in the laying in the garage and the light goes off again. I can drive approximately 20 miniutes after leaving the garage with no tpms before the light finaly comes on.

The better option (imo) is to get programmable sensors on each new wheel. These are then programmed with the same IDs as the old wheels. The Cost was the same as getting any other TPMS sensors and the wife is very happy to not have the dash light on.
