Are you talking sticker price or out the door price? Witch I understand can be very different for each person even with buying at the same dealer at the same sticker price. This can be a very tedious process as i want a black one with kdss. looks like i will be doing a bit of traveling . Think its time to put bessy up for sale . Think i will try craigs list. and this forum.
36500 is a smoking price for a 2016 TP. It has to be before taxes, no way is it a drive out price, assuming local and state taxes apply. In my world drive out price equals sales price - trade in + taxes and fees
When I purchased my 2015 the dealer invoice was 37216, that is what I paid, before taxes. I saw the paper work, they were up front and it also agreed with all of the info I found on the Internet. There was a 1100 hold back that the dealers play with, my dealer would not. Invoice is what I got, and I was happy. As TPs are very rare around here. This was the exact truck I wanted in my second color choice, I wanted silver but this one was gray. I was happy. I looked for one year before purchasing. Used KBB data, what people are paying for cars and used this forum. I read a lot about some people getting TPs 1000 to 2000 below invoice and after going through what I did, I concluded these were a little stretches...unless the dealer is in the business of giving money away.
I started with a dealer in Baton Rouge, one of the largest in the south, and the best deal I could get with them is we split the hold back, so I could have gotten it about 500 cheaper, but they were such a pain to deal with, very arrogant, I went some where else. So if he is getting a TP for 36500, he is getting all of the hold back and there is no price increase in the 2015-2016 model year. And the dealer is making essentially nothing.
My final check was I have a friend whose BIL manages a dealer in Maryland and I called him with my deal and he said the numbers were correct and there is no way he could even come close. So I felt good. So like I said, he is getting a smoking deal for a 2016, and it has to be with no options, no KDSS.
My truck was actually in transit to another dealer, so they redirected it for me.
Good luck, you are purchasing a fine vehicle.
