trailer hitch rust

With only 6k miles I already have rust?!$& I never use the hitch. What gives? Dealer already ordered a new one for a replacement , but still....

here's mine after towing last summer & fall around 2000 miles + most weekends with a bike rack in the receiver. Kids insisted I bought a cover to hide the rust

It's nothing to get excited about. They rust... purely cosmetic.

if you use it youll get rust on it.

They are made out of mild steel and they rust. Hit it with sandpaper and spray a bit of black on it. Having your dealer replace it for that? It's just gonna do it again.

Yeah I can't believe the dealer warrantied it for the OP. Good for them but it's a surprise. Maybe I can get new spindles, rotors, etc before my warranty is up because they're rusty too.
