trailer hitch rust

With only 6k miles I already have rust?!$& I never use the hitch. What gives? Dealer already ordered a new one for a replacement , but still....

here's mine after towing last summer & fall around 2000 miles + most weekends with a bike rack in the receiver. Kids insisted I bought a cover to hide the rust :)

They are made out of mild steel and they rust. Hit it with sandpaper and spray a bit of black on it. Having your dealer replace it for that? It's just gonna do it again.

Yeah I can't believe the dealer warrantied it for the OP. Good for them but it's a surprise. Maybe I can get new spindles, rotors, etc before my warranty is up because they're rusty too.
