Does your 4Runner tramline on the highway when it hits ruts or imperfections on the highway?

Yes. Noticed this big time going to the beach last week. Took highway 300 from Albany, ga to 231 to Panama city and I was flirting with the wheel the whole time in any sign of a rut. I at first thought it was wind, then realized the trees weren't moving..

Mine does it. It was way more noticable after I lifted it. Just not enough caster now. I need to get new UCAs and would like to get wheels that have slightly less backspacing.

thanks; mine does this noticeably more since "upgrading" my suspension; gives you a new-found respect for those Toyota engineers eh..

I thought it was just mine, but when I talked to a Toyota tech awhile ago it is a common complaint on the 4th gen t4r.

I forgot to ask if the alignment specs could be adjust to reduce it.

hmmm interesting. so it sounds like that's just how it is with wide tires.

mine, is also sensitive to wind when on the highway, a little wind can make the 4runner feel unstable.


i had my car aligned a couple of times and same issue.

I read the it gets worse as the car/tires ages, as the joints, tie rods, bushings, and tire start to wear. Any free play in the steering will add to the tramline. And as the tire wears, there is actually more grip on dry roads and hence more tramlining.
