Transfer Case Leak 1995 4runner

has anybody had an issue with the transfer
case on 1995 4runner automatic leaking

mine is leaking bad from the back I cant tell
where exactly but it is a steady drip.

andyone had to fix on of these? is it a pain?

ANY ONE know how hard it is to change seals in a transfer case (front and back)

I've never torn into replacing seals/gaskets in a 4Runner t-case. I have a 92 3.0 Auto . It has an A340H transmission. The transfer case shares lubricating (tranny) fluid with the transmission. I recently changed the fluid in mine. Have to drain both the trans pan and the t-case pan. Each one has a separate drain plug. Took about 6 1/4 quarts of Dexron III to refill.

All the advice I can share is to be careful when ya get in there. It's almost like the tranny and the t-case are one unit.

Did you ever figure out what the leak was ? I have a 92 and my tcase leaks a little.

But you stated the trans and T-case share fluid but I think this is not correct. The transfer case in any transmission configuration AT or MT is lubricated with hypoid gear oil.
The auto transmission is full of dexron and MT is also hypoid gear oil like t-case and differentials.
I came across your reply because I am having dexron somehow leaking or being forced, from the AT into the void between the T-case and transmission where dexron should not be.
Obvious culprit one would think is a bad rear main seal but the main seal looks good.

Are you hoping that the dude just parked it in his yard after no one could give him any advice here back in 2005, and now he gets an email notification about this thread and after reading it looks at his algae/mold covered 4Runner with confidence to fix it?
