I was wondering the same after seeing some of your posts on the vibrations you were getting and the work you had done to address it. I go to Pensacola kinda regularly to vacation/fish so will keep an eye out for an auto trans.

i can't wait for one as this is my only means of transport. i am ordering an OEM one from toyota on monday. replacing rear main while i'm in there, which was leaking a bit. freaking neighbor was helping and didn't do what i told him and it fell, and ended up on my chest. i'm sore.

has anyone bought a trans from other places besides the dealer? i have been told mixed things about jasper, in particular.

do a search, there was just a thread about a Jasper failing recently. I think after 5000 miles. get a low miles from the junk yard.

i would, but don't want to do this again if it fails. not to mention i don't have anyone to cart me around to find one.

Yikes.

Whenever my trans goes out I'd probably order OEM too unless I happen to come across a used one that I know the history on.

got the rear main seal installed along with the flex plate and bolts torqued to specs. trans going in tomorrow.

runs pretty good. most of the vibrations are gone. diff is causing issues as well,
that need to be addressed so the trans doesn't get ruined due to harmonic vibrations.

Did you just do u-joints or the whole driveshaft? The 2WD shaft has that rubber sleeve that goes bad with time. (can't remember if I posted on another thread of yours)

i did replace the joints, but that is not the problem. the diff is making noise and vibrating at high speeds, which probably caused the previous joints to fail, and also killed the trans, due to harmonics travelling through the driveshaft.

If you didn't replace the whole driveshaft, start there. The 2WD shaft (yes, the shaft itself, not the joints) wears out and causes vibrations at highway speeds.

I suppose you can pull the shaft off the pinion and check for play, but you probably won't find any.

there is plenty of play and slop in the diff. i had the back end on jack stands and revved it up to 70 and it is very noisy.
