transmission oil needs changing

hey everyone, I have a 2000 Toyota 4runner with 530,000 miles on it. It still runs pretty good except that I can sometimes feel the transmission buck,or thump when I accelerate from 60 or 65 miles per hour. I know I SHOULD HAVE BUT, but I have never changed the transmission fluid, do you think its to late or can I drain and fill and change the filter? appreciate any help I can get.

There is a school of thought that would say no, don't touch it.
But I think I'd do a drain/fill with a new filter and see how it goes.
If no issues do it again in a few weeks.
