Transmission: starts and stops in any gear?

1990 T4r 4x4 auto. Had the transmission and transfer case rebuilt 150 miles ago, OUCH, shop required I bring the vehicle in for check up before offering the 24k warranty.

The trans works fine; however, find I can turn the ignition off, or start the vehicle in any gear? Intend bringing the matter with the shop Rep., not sure how persistent I should be if the problem is not the responsibility of the shop in correcting?

They got something wrong. Connection or something. You need to have them fix this. It is a safety issue. And if someone borrows you ride and accidentally hits the key while in gear it could lurch and hurt someone.

Yes, just got the vehicle back; although the cost of the trans rebuilt was expensive I can appreciate the shop would not issue the warranty until I put 150 miles on the vehicle for a follow-up check. With the presenting issue brought the vehicle in early and what was suppose to take them 1 hour they kept the vehicle 3 days, now works great.
