TRD Off Road badge placement ??

Does anyone know where you can get a placement guide for the TRD Off Road badge? Previous owner removed and I want to add it back to original location.

I bought the correct parts from Toyota (PT41389170), but get this -- the Toyota service center, nor the Toyota 1800 corporate number, nor an exhaustive Google search could give me any info at all about placement.

Seems like it should not be this hard to find out.

On YouTube, I found a tutorial on placement for the TRD Pro badge but that is all on one line so it is totally different.

Any ideas ?? Anyone have that page from a service manual?

You're probably not going to find anything unless you have connections to the factory. They likely use a jig to apply these.

Used to work in the auto business for a time and when manufacturer badging (value added work) was done at port facilities, they literally used heavy paper jigs that aligned with other body parts with cutouts wherein the badge was placed. These jigs were made by staff at the direction of port reps for their desired placement.

My only suggestion would be to find a TRD OR somewhere, an aquaintance, at the dealership, that will allow you to use their vehicle to create your own jigs out of a large piece of paper or something. Maybe someone on the forum here in your area could chime in and let you have a look at theirs some weekend?

You could lay the paper over the c-pillar, align and mark it to the contour of, and positioning to, the c-pillar and windows on both sides. Then you could "trace" or plot the positioning of the badge on the paper from over it. Then cut out a "window" where the badge would be placed on your c-pillars? You would need one for each side.

Does this make any sense?

Another option would be to use the TRD Pro tutorial to center your TRD badge and similarly create a jig for the Off Road parts by eye after looking at another vehicle with them still applied?

Otherwise you could learn to live with it and don't know what else to suggest? I removed mine to have clearbra applied and like the clean look personally but hopefully the suggestion above will be of some help or give you another idea if you really want them back on?

Not to be an ass, but the obvious thing to me too; go to a dealer snap a couple of pics and take a measurement or two? Or do the same if you see one driving around town or in a mall/shopping parking lot. There has to be a few in LA.

You really need a spec diagram for this? It should be pretty straight forward. Get yourself some frog tape, a metric ruler and a torpedo level. Use pics and map it out.

Yeah, pretty simple fix, find one and measure or pull up a picture online and just determine the scale against your actual measurements. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.

Mine were torn off when the vehicle was stolen. The dealer that did the repair put them back on, but they are not to factory spec. They still look great, but enough different from stock that I kind of like the look.

You could look at the factory brochures and get them on so close that no one would ever know. To get exact, just go to a dealer and take measurements.
